Well couple of updates ill add some pics tomorrow.
I decided on 4 ribs in the hatch witch puts them just over a foot apart and picked up the material to make 2 more this afternoon.
I allso hit a milestone and got one side straightend and fitted the outside skin witch im verry pleased about.
Tomorrow ill finish up some wiring and skin the otherside then get some more insulation in the roof in preparation for skinning.
Hopefuly next weekend ill be canvasing or close to

Hi Dale, good to see the progress (or it will be when the photos appear  ) I have been doing a bit of a catch up today on who is up to what, (been a bit preoccupied with some other projects lately). Re the hatch, my one only has 40mm deep ply ribs, 5 of them, and then the acl glued directly on to that. Our first couple of trips away we found it very floppy. Shutting it was a bit of an art as it would twist quite a bit. When I finally got the inner liner fitted, I could not believe how a 3mm sheet of plastic could make such a difference, it is now rock solid. The ribs you are using should be a hell of a lot more solid than the ones on my one.
So, what did your mother think of your camper now that she has seen it in the flesh?

She loved it! Said she wanted to go glamping at the werrabe zoo... (aparantly you can) its free range!
Got the otherside skinned today ive just got the area in front of the doors to skin tomorrow then onto the roof insulation.
Im gonna pick up the roof ply tomorrow and hopefuly be doing PMF next weekend.
Walls have come up pretty straight but i put a fair bit of time into belt sanding and planing the walls straight (one of the downfalls of milling all your own framing at different times.
Some is drier than others and every time you rip it its out by a fraction).
Thanks for checking in frank.
Been working all day and just finnished cooking dinner and a couple of reds so probably no pics until tomorrow unless i get motivated.
Frank....thought the rugby was on tonight

Don't ask me! It hasn't got an engine!! I'm one of the rare kiwis that doesn't follow it much.
How did you get on with the front panel bulge, or did you decide it wasn't all that bad after all? I am sure that no one will notice unless you point it out. It may even flatten out when you get the skin on.

Im fussy i fixed it!
I finished off the internal ceiling and ratchet straped it in place while drying.
Then once dry i planed the bow out of them and doubled up the spars.
Its perfect now

That's good, I didn't think you would let it get the better of you.

Well i drilled the roof spars from front to back to run my wiring for the porch lights and interior reading lamps (witch i hate but paid 38 bucks each for ) and ran the wiring and routed the wire runs to suit and fitted the front side wall sheets.
Went to the timber yard on the other side of town where ive been getting my ply and got 3 more sheets of damaged ply for the roof skins and a nice piece of hardwood ply for the hatch.
He looked after me especialy well getting all 4 sheets for 25 bucks.
He put me onto a guy that makes entrance doors and cabinetts from salvaged warf timbers and hes machining me up some 200 year old timber for my hatch spars
Cant wait to see them.
Possibly box brush witch is outstanding stuff.
So given the fact the weather threw everything it could at me i got a bit achieved and ive got a whole new lease of life and enthusiasm for this build.
Picking up my canvas tomorrow if i get time and ive already got a gallon of tb2 plus some opps paint

Great progress on the build now! That 200 year old wood should be plenty stable when it's milled to size & fastened into the hatch. Looks like the work is getting to be more of a pleasure for you now than a burden. More pictures!
