Cyantific Method (used to be "The Great Escape")

The start.

Received a bunch of packages (A good chunk from Frank Bear):

Bodged together a way to hold stuff together while I got initial welds done:

Since I'm using Alaska Teardrop's manufacturing method idea, I had to make a forming buck:

First Cabin spar being curved:

Pained the frame with POR-15:

Added the first aluminum pieces for the cabin onto the lower frame.
These are held on by 1" UHB tape and 1/4" Stainless steel bolts and fender washers and #8 Stainless screws.

So more work over the past couple days.

Got in my PD4045KV AC/DC Distribution panel with charger.

Got my cabin floor and back wall in place. And more framing. This time to frame out the skylight and vent fan.

Since last week I've done some frame in and other work.

Ran out of rivets finishing the door frames. (More will be here tomorrow.)

So today has been wood work and trailer modifications.
Ripped all the 2x8's off. Cut off the old gate mounts, trimmed the rear angle iron so it won't interfere with rear hatch.
Adding some 2" angle iron to support the leveling jacks (yeah those are overkill but I got em cheap) and the 2" hitch (so we can take some bikes with us.)

Then it was onto fabricating the new trailer floor. Which is 3 sheets of 3/4" outdoor ply, scarfed together with 3" lap joints and generous dose of gorilla glue. Once that's done a sheet of aluminum will be laminated on.

Lots of sawdust making the lap joints though.

Been a bit since I last updated. I hit a SNAFU and did my math wrong for sizing the interior cabinets. So I had to go back and re-do them again.

First off this is probably one of the best tools I've picked up recently. Why haven't I bought one before?

Lower section is 12" deep by 14" high. Upper section is 15" deep (at the bottom) by 15.5" high.

Upper section will get panels inset on left and right, and the big opening will be a door hinged at the bottom. (so we can mount a TV/PC to the front of it.)

Headboard is up next..... will have doors that open at hinges on the bottom.

Next up will be interior walls installation, cabinet mounting and crafting of the headboard.

Installed a Trailer tongue box to store propane tank & wheel chocks and the like. (UWS TVB-34 will fit two 20lb propane tanks if you want it to.)

Installed Flooring in the cabin.

Then cut a big hole to make access hatch to storage, tanks, electric underneath.

My future build will barrow some technique from Alaska teardrop as well, I'm wondering how did you do the 45 deg connections on the front and the corners of the back door?

45' connections are peices of 1" wide flat stock, cut to 2.25" and hand formed with a rubber mallet to the angles I needed.

Update: Since I last posted a LOT of work was done. And I appologize not as many pictures were taken as I was working 40 hour weeks at work and then also working approx the same at home on this every night as well.

Also we have changed the name! After painting the trailer, GF suggested "Cyantific Method". I think this might suit better than "Great Escape"

Here we are out at our annual August camping trip in SW Virginia (Just west of Blacksburg, where I went to college).
Happy to report she was watertight and the battery ran the fan and lights all weekend with no issue. (still had 2/3rds of the batter left). (last biggest amperage draw we'll install is going to be a 90W All-in-one PC and a EdgeStar 12v Fridge, but Solar will be hooked up by then.)
The TexSport Auto Spinnaker makes a great rainfly for over the doors.
