First Night in My Cozy Cruiser

Postby Grizzz » Thu Nov 12, 2015 9:06 pm

Picked up my Cozy Cruiser this morning in Orlando. This thing is so cool. Made it up to O'Leno State Park and staying here tonight then driving back to Atlanta tomorrow. It's a cool night, the MaxFan is creating a quiet slight breeze...all is well for a good nights sleep. Now if I can just figure out ho you are supposed to put the new mattress topper and sheets onto this thing. :x

Congrats on the new trailer, it's a beauty. I find making the bed a real hassle. But once done, it is a very comfortable way to sleep.

What a sweeet looking drop! I'll betcha you've been doing some tear-tours with the lookie-lews.

Now if I can just figure out ho you are supposed to put the new mattress topper and sheets onto this thing.

We put a fitted bottom sheet on the mattress, and of course it takes two of us. We then put a silky smooth fleece blanket over it and a down comforter. It's easy and works well.

As for the topper?

Has anyone ever tried a sleep number bed in a TD? I am always looking for weight saving ideas.

Tony, you are right about showing off the tear. Within the first 5 hours of ownership I had 3 tours.

Congrats on your new Cozy Cruiser!!

We picked up our "CozyCruiser" in August 2013 (ordered it in June 2013). Love the little Aluminum teardrop (ours is all shiny aluminum pulled by a Silver 2011 Toyota Rav 4, v6)!

Not sure about what mattress topper you have. When we picked ours up it was just the mattress that was level with the entrance door threshold. I decided that would not be comfortable on the back of one's legs so I headed to IKEA and picked up a "memory foam" topper (2" or so). It needed some trimming so we pulled the foam out of it's cover, trimmed it, put it back in it's cover, and put it in the Cruiser on top of the mattress, It was an excellent addition and has served us well.

As to making the bed it's indeed not easy. With the two of us we can wrestle the sheets in place without too much trouble (well, my wife often takes over once I show how incompetent I am at such tasks…....). It then makes one very comfortable bed!

I always figured if making the bed gets too troublesome one could always make it up once a Summer and sleep in sleeping bags. Just a thought.

Did you order your new "Cruiser" and have it shipped or find a used one? There are new owners of the business since we bought ours. I hope they are doing well and that you enjoy your teardrop!

As to the "tour" requests I do allow for 6 or so a day when traveling (travel Glacier and Yellowstone a lot). And I love the most common statement from folks "you can sleep in there?"

If you have any questions that I might help with feel free to message me.

Enjoy your new bedroom! And if you are indeed ever looking for your namesake "Grizz" wander out West to Montana!

It wouldn't be my choice. Seems impractical. Had one in my little Aliner for a while & quickly discovered some big drawbacks. (Had my old full size mattress upstairs, left after upgrading to a queen.) If you want to retain the adjustable air pressure you need to find a place for that large pump & the hoses that connect mattress to pump. You also need the 110v to power the pump. Of course, you can go without the pump by using the valve caps for the hoses. However, I've found that extremes of temperature really do effect the air pressure in the mattress. There's a big difference in the feel of the mattress between air temps of say 85 deg F and 50 deg F. Heck, I'm rather like the princess & the pea & can notice a difference between 75 deg & 65 deg.

What we currently have in my camper are our two Thermarest pads, side by side, with a full size foam topper. I zipped those into the Select Comfort (Sleep Number) outer mattress cover. It's easy to fold in half in case we need to get to the storage underneath. As a bonus, it's also very easy to get it into & out of the camper.
