Most of the time I say its...
-----
Sort of like tent camping, in that you can go anywhere, you don't need a big truck to pull it, and you spend a lot of time outdoors. It has everything over tent camping though in that your setup/tear down is MUCH less and much quicker, your convenience and comfort is much greater. A real bed, real doors, electric lights, a seriously weatherproof hard shell that is insulated, surprisingly sound proof, and comfortable. Noisy neighbors? No issues. 20MPH winds, 40+ degree temp change, and throw some rain on top? No worries. The best part though is how everything is incredibly easy...
How easy it is is the most remarkable thing to me at least. Being a lifetime backpacker and car camping with the family I'm used to a fair amount of prep/tear down at any campsite. Simply not having to setup a tent, tear it back down, blow up air mattresses, setup the stove on a picnic table, find a place for the water jug, having no need to keep getting storage tubs out of the car and put them back, its amazing to me how easy the teardrop is.
Even the packing to go is minimal. We keep it setup, cooler is in the back, utensils etc all set to go. EZ-UP is stored inside with some folding chairs, blankets, pillows, and the bed is already made. Lights and other handy items are in a tub inside, you just pack your clothes, stop by the super market on the way out of town to stock up on food/ice and hit the road.
Makes it a lot less of "Should we go somewhere this weekend?" and more of "Where are we going this weekend?"
