Door hinge question

Postby dakotamouse » Sun Jun 11, 2006 10:21 pm

I'm looking through the Kuffel Creek plans and I just can't figure out what he uses for the door hinge. Is it the hurricane hinge only cut down?

I'm trying to figure out an order for lil bear parts. Should I be ordering 2 huricane hinges? One for the galley and one to cut in half for the two doors?

a hurricane hinge needs a stop or it will just slide through... other than that, I do not know.. most use stainlless piano hinge. I got a 6 foot length from a marine place and cut it in half.

Grant, also sells an offset piano hinge for the doors that many have used and liked...ask Doug Hodder about it for one

If you are building a Cubby, then the parts list should tell you what you need for a hinge. I used a aluminum piano hinge (I think) that I got from RW Johnson.

I have a set of Grant's offset hinges. I like them a lot, it makes the door installation really easy. The only problem is, he can't make them for you if your walls are really thick.

You could always get them formed for you, depending on the size.
