2k primer is good (and the right choice to cover your bodywork) but now you need a good epoxy primer (we use Extreme).....but any good epoxy high build primer will do the job.
Yes, I am a professional painter....(but don't let that get out, as I am trying to be RETIRED!...and work "MY" Teardrop Trailers and Street Rods!)
Because "Topcoat" paint is so pricy these days.......you do not want to cheap out on the undercoat! Remember... Paint covers nothing!!
Your paint job is only as good as the prep work!

Alright Brian... I've got some Omni Epoxy primer sitting around so I'll use that.

Omni is okay to use up.
But, do yourself a favor ....and use something better than Omni for your Top Coat!
Remember it is the "lowest" product in their line??
For the price of a couple of cases of beer, you can buy a topcoat product that will give you a much nicer finish (shine) that will stand up for much longer :thinking:

Right, but I'm not going to buy something to use on interior panels that are 90% covered by cabinets and such...

If you want to use cheap paint .....that is your call.
I just have experience I would like to share (48 years!)
I am very familiar with "Omni".......enough said????? :roll:

I do this every day! and most of those on the Forum ? :roll:

Ha! No offense at all! I'm talking about the interior walls. Trying to use what materials I have on hand to keep costs down. Like I said, most of the interior walls are hidden. But they're still going to look killer I promise! On the exterior... I only use DuPont. Except for the flake which I use Roth Flake. I just happened to get some in today!

So old?......the gap is too much for most of us over 60?

All of the WW2 guys had them (my Dad) but then it skipped a generation. :thinking:

I got one in the 70's and everyone was freaked out!
The 70's & 80's were "Clean Skin".........but, now things are out of control :roll:

Wish I wasn't so old..... so I could see all of the drooping daisies, and dead butterflies, of the future??? :twisted:

All the under 40 guys in our car club metal flake the roof of their 60's cars.
Hell, my Street Rod Shop is pre 58. 60's and 70's cars are new cars to me.
Learned to drive on them......and they were New!
Can't seem to get my brain around it? :oops:

Old school has a whole different meaning to me.

Frist time I have heard of "Lil Roth Flake"???........"Big Daddy " Ed Roth war an acquaintance of mine and pin striped a friends Model T for us a number of years ago.
My Henry J is fashioned after one of his drawings (never built before)......I am building it in his honor.
But "Lil Roth" flake?????

Don't want him to turn over in his grave?

'Lil Daddy Roth is his son, carrying on his father's legacy with a very cool line of flake, pearls, candies and pin striping paints and brushes . Great company to work with and all their stuff is very high quality.
