Ok, so... Finished up the final details of the interior panels. They are all now ready to be installed. We are trying to figure out the best way to attach them to the wall. (Screws, glue, etc.) I need to come up with a way that doesn't mess up the paint. Suggestions welcome.





Each picture makes the panels look like they don't match but that's because of the viewing angle, lighting and such. The flake changes as you move...

The specs say it bonds metal, plastic and glass. I don't see anything about wood. Have you tried it? Permanent is fine... Once the cabinets and other walls are in they won't be going anywhere anyway.

How about that Hysol you mentioned? PLP maybe?

Is the back raw wood and what are you sticking it to?

Thank you KC... The back of the panel is raw wood. The walls they will be attached to are epoxied wood. Hysol would hold them in place... It's the extended cure time that I think would be the problem. Without a way to clamp them in place, it's a long time to wait.

The interior panels - as does the rest of your build - are incredibly gorgeous.

As far as how to affix them, I would test PL Premium on some scraps. I bonded some non-epoxied would to epoxied wood in my build using PL Premium. I sanded the epoxied wood for mechanical grip, applied the PL Premium, and then clamped the pieces in place. I don't think that PL Premium expands like other polyurethane adhesives so strong clamping is not necessary. Maybe you could clamp around the openings and use some type of spreader bar/clamp around the perimeter (with of course some type of padding to protect the painted surfaces.)

There are a lot of adhesive products, just find one the cures quick or a way to hold the panels in place. Screws would take away from that amazing paint job!

Polyurethane adhesive will work.
You know im going to say sikaflex dont you
I on this build and the other one used a combination of vhb and sikaflex and its goung no where.
Use small sections of the tape to hold it while the glue gos off.

Thanks man... And yes I knew you would say sikaflex. It's just tough to get around here. 3M seems to have the market cornered. But as you and others have said, some type of polyurethane should work. It's just keeping it there while it sets up. That's why I'll probably try the VHB. I see there is VHB transfer tape as well as foam tape. Which exactly should I use? Also it doesn't say anything about bonding to wood. Any experience with that Dale?

I have an older one that uses screws on each end instead of the ratchet. I think I found it at Harbor Freight.
