New Truckfridge Models Coming

Postby lrrowe » Wed Jan 06, 2016 7:55 pm

Has anyone else seen the note on Truckfridge's website regarding model feature changes coming soon?
http://m.truckfridge.com/site/store/page6.html?imz_st

For the top loading portable models, they are stating that there are new models coming later this summer. They will have have single and double compartments and single and dual temperature controls. I was planning on ordering their TF51 model this spring. But this has my interest and most likely will cause me to wait and see what this is all about.

I did send them an email asking more about these changes, but have not heard anything back yet. I will give them some more time and then will call them.

Look very similar to the Waeco/Dometic, willing to bet there are parts in common.

Save $100.00 on the mobile site! The 1 cuft $399 mobile, $499 on regular site.

Probably the same Danfoss compressor on all these 12V fridge brands.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

It's this linky:

It's got the "m." in front of truckfridge.com. Plain 'ol truckfridge.com is $100 more for the portables.

Thick headed me. I see it now and I used it in my original link. But I did not notice the "m."
Yes, I did notice the price difference. I would go after the large one, TF51.

I'd like the big one, too. Only the small one will fit under my counter. :fb

IndelB, an Italian company, makes the TruckFridges. IndelB calls them Travel Boxs. Here's their information on the current product line of Travel Boxs. It's probably where to look, in the future, for the newly announced TruckFridges.

Unless the new TruckFridges will have a different manufacturer.

I looked at the website for IntelB. Even the model numbers are similar. I will ask Truckfridge about whether they are working with a new manufacturer or not when I am able to contact them.

I stumbled upon another forum which is working on a group buy for the TF51 Truckfridge/IndelB portable top loading 12v refridge/freezer.

If they can get 20 members to commit to a buy, they can get a group buy price of 20% off the MSRP of $599 for a net price of just about $479 including shipping. The best price from Truckfridge direct is $549 plus $45 shipping for a total of $594.

I joined the forum just for this opportunity and am asking if I, as a Noobie can participate. I would expect the answer to be yes as they need names for the list.

If anyone is intersted in what happens, let me know. This deal only goes out to 2/16/2016.

How much does one of those TF51s weigh empty? I can't find that on either site.

I have a TB41 (mid-size one) and love it. I leave it in the rear part of my Mazda CX-5 hooked up to the always-on 12V receptical back there

A nice feature is a 3 settings switch that will cause the fridge to cutoff before draining your battery below a specified voltage, so you can always have enough juice to start your car. If I'm not going to be driving the car for a couple of days I hook up a portable solar panel charger to the CX-5 battery to keep it fully charged and the TB41 continually running.

You do not want to leave it outdoors (like under your EZup) where it can get wet in a rain storm, and then short out. Don't ask me how I know this...

I think the only reason a new model would be coming out would be if there were some improvement in the Danfoss compressor, which is pretty efficient as it is. I'm suspicious...

I did send them a note requesting more info on the new models and have not received any reply. It is really not that important that I know so I am not pursuing it any further with them. I have decided to get the TF51 in February.

Jon, You and your wife traveled cross country to attend IRG in California coming from the East Coast to the West Coast and then returned home back East. (I really enjoyed your photo album of the trip.)That seems like a very good, lengthy, test of the TruckFridge's durability and suitability. How well did the TF41's 1.5 cubic foot capacity meet your needs. Did you need to shop to restock it very often? In other words how long could you comfortably go just with the food it carried before you needed to fill it up again? A week? Less? More?
