First Build

Postby Jaytak5 » Sun Jan 24, 2016 12:06 pm

So i started my first build in mid December and am making great progress and alot of that is due to this forum. Thanks guys!!! Here is what i have so far
Image
The floor is 3/4in ply with a 2x3 frame and is insulated.
Image[/IMG]
I used roofing tar to weather proof the bottom.
Image
Image
Walls are made of the same ply and i used some scrapwood i had to frame
Image
Got the walls up and decided to reward myself with a drink
Image
This was my first attempt at skinning the front. I learned and tore it off and put up a better sheet.
ImageImage
Since all the walls are up i cut and fit all the insulation.
Image
Got some batteries from and friend they are all 8.5ah and there are actually more to come. I wired them all in parallel to get more run time on everything.
ImageImage
Started putting up the walls near the gallry so i can build the galley.
ImageImageImage
Now electrical is going in! Im using computer fans because i live in san diego and the temperature doesnt really get unbearable here so i figure it would work. And thats when i am now. I'll update as i progress.

Welcome to the Forum Jaytak5... :applause:

You are off to a great start and what a bank of batteries...

The last time I looked into this many batteries was when I considered building an electric car... Did I count 10 batteries; what do these weigh apiece?? Out of curiosity, have you calculated the battery and trailer GVWR ?? I can only assume you plan on doing a lot of dry camping and running Microwave, A/C, etc.

I have a 19 foot FunFinder with 2 Grp 31 Deep cycle batteries that handle about everything I need for at least several days dry camping; I also have a 6x10 Cargo conversion that has a single Grp 27 Deep cycle and has seen up to 5 days dry camping... Wow a bank of 10 in a TD...

Good luck with your build and keep the pics coming...
Happy Camping & Building,
John (JC)

Looks like a good build. Nice to see cherry for your wood!

The time you spend planning is more important than the time you spend building.........

Those appear to be small 7 ah batteries, only weigh a couple of pounds each. Used for ups or alarm systems. I have used one for drops that just have led lights.

Thanks for the explanation Graniterich... I was not familiar with these...
That makes a huge difference from what I was thinking

They are not that big or heavy. These look like the ones I use on my kayak for my fish finder.
