Thanks guys. I'll probably drill out small holes where the tacks were and put a new tack with my flux wire welder. Hopefully I can turn it down enough to not blow through immediately. The pump piston leather on the lantern was dry and not functional. I dipped it in oil but it wasn't enough at that moment. Maybe I just need to give it time to soak in and swell back up.
The collection has grown already.. I initially had contacted two sellers on CL expecting one or none to get back with me. I normally don't do that, but then it normally takes weeks for me to actually find someone who will respond or hasn't already sold. Well, Lucky me, the second seller got back with me too
. So I went ahead with it and picked up a 290 lantern and another 425E for $25 total. They have seen more use but are still functional. I was thinking of getting a second lantern anyway and apparently this one is one of the first truly adjustable ones? In that case it might work out well for the table while the 228 would handle kitchen duties or other general area lighting. The second stove I plan to give to a family member who car camps.
