Steve, I don't think the Folk Festival is a snowbird thing:

It's a very nice, large county park with modern facilities, but as a Floridian yourself, if you're not going for the music, I don't know if it's worth the trip to visit THIS part of Florida.
As you know, if it was the Keys, I would say go in a heartbeat. But this is a county park nestled within the urban sprawl of South Florida. So I say if you want to shlep down for the music, that should be worth it. As far as the nature goes, I don't know. Maybe I'm just spoiled because I live down here.
And I just checked that link of yours, but what am I missing? What makes the park so weird?
