Yeah, the USGS calls them "induced earthquakes."

I woke up feeling like crap. My head and stomach is not feeling all that great. It sort of feels like a bad hangover.. except I didn't have anything to drink.

I am trying to do a little work on the porch. I was going to say I can't do much until I pick up the rest of the stuff to do my concrete forms, but I suspect I have enough to keep me busy for today. We have a group ride here this afternoon, our regular Monday "night" ride. I am not sure how many we will get with the holiday, but we know of at least one other.. and we would like to ride anyways.

In doing some research it seems as if I can just purchase a lower crown race for my new fork. Not that I minded paying for another headset. I just didn't want to have to switch it out, every time I switched out the fork.

The frame is designed to take a tapered fork, which uses a larger bearing on the bottom vs the top. The bike comes with a straight steerer tubed fork, and has a crown race that is adapted to to take the same headset as the tapered uses. So I just need to "proper" crown race. Then I can easily switch the forks back and forth. It's still a little work.. but not bad.

We didn't have anyone show up for last nights ride.. sometimes on holiday weekends that happens.. which was ok.. I still wasn't feeling that great so it was nice being able to do what we wanted.

An ok day at work today. Laurie's new bike came in. :D Its a great deal.. and a nice looking bike.. and it makes me want one also

We had a good ride tonight. In the chaos of leaving the parking lot and such.. I took off hard.. I was expecting to get caught sooner than I did. They did say I had a little help from a traffic light. I was just under 10 miles out when the group caught me. It was basically Greg and Judy on the tandem with an assist from Bill. [the others were just hanging on. I was going to wait where we turn at the bridge.. and I got caught maybe 2 tenth's of a mile before it. We did stop and regroup there. I was hoping to sit in from there back.. but they put me in the front again. A couple places others pulled.. but I did most of it. I did not pace myself to pull hard all the way back.. so I did slow some. We had a side [diagonal wind] and it seemed worse on the way back than it did on the way out.

I had a 21.7 average at the bridge.. and a 20.4 at the end. We did slow at one point going through a neighborhood.. and did a little cool down at the end.

Hello, folks. :)

I still don't have a bike. I also have one fewer lens. I sold my old 28-70 f2.8 zoom. Great lens, but it weighs too much, especially on my D4 body. All-day shoots with that set-up was too hard on my right hand and wrist. I was developing a carpal-tunnel kind of thing. I'm going back to primes for my short distance shooting, using the old "two-leg zoom."

I put a "buy it now" price on my eBay auction, and set it too low -- it sold in 21 minutes. :duh:

Oh, well. I made a ton of money off of that lens over the ten-or-so years I owned it, and still came away with 600-bucks, which really is a fair price for it.

I brined a chicken Sunday night, and cooked it on the rotisserie on Labor Day.

Good morning. 8)

CD.. Good news on the lens sale. I have some mountain bikes for sale… if you are interested :D ;)

What's a two leg zoom? I googled… and nope that's not it!! Is is a lens with just 2 different focal lengths vs a lens with variable lengths?

We got our form in place last yesterday, although not fully finished. I had hoped to finish it and get it filled… THAT DIDN"T HAPPEN

The second side won't take as long for I will just re-use the forms I am using now. Hopefully I can finish it tomorrow and get the concrete into it.

Work again today. I have been expecting to hear I am done for the season soon. Many years, I am done by now.

A two leg zoom is moving your two legs to get closer or farther from the subject with a prime (fixed length) lens. ;)

I still use a 70-200 zoom lens for distance stuff, because with long lenses, I am often limited in my ability to back up by fixed obstacles. For closer work, I'll use a 24mm prime or 50mm prime, and do my "zooming" with my legs.

I am still working.. but hopefully not much longer.

We are pretty steamy.. when what's her name passed by out to sea.. she brought some warm humid air with her.

I have put the finishing touches on my form.. and getting ready to mix some concrete. I do have a hose that reaches [and has pressure that high up] and I can get the bags of concrete fairly close to where I am working, with the tractor. So.. it's time to start mixing. :D :o :sweaty:

I'm glad I could make your day a little funnier, sir sheepman.

Now, what exactly qualifies as "warm humid" air in Maine? At this moment, in the middle of the night, it is 88 degrees, and 82-percent humidity at the doghouse. I mowed the lawn just before sunset, so it was probably warmer then. I took a much needed shower, and gave my dog a bath after the yard work was done.

We do have a "cold" front about two hours away, and moving fast. The high temperatures are expected to be in the 80s after it passes, and drier -- maybe 30-40 percent humidity.

I can only assume that heat and humidity weren't an issue on your alien sheep planet. ;) :D

Our weather people use dew points.. not percent of humidity. This recent.. I was talking relative.. comparing to where we should be, and to what we just had. We have had morning temps down in the 40's.. and a couple of days of highs in the 60's.. Our average frost date is Sept.15th. The past couple of mornings it was humid enough that you pick up water droplets from the air walking in it, and started with temps in the upper 60's. We did reach the upper 80's and low 90's

I got my concrete all mixed yesterday… but I was so tired when I got done… we didn't do anything else… although it was around 4:00.

I am pretty sore this morning also. We wanted to go out and do a little trail work this morning… I guess we will still go out and try to do something. I have a tree down on 3 Sir… and have 2 sections of dual track I would like to clean up from the recent logging.

Then back to work on the barn.

I've never taken the time to get a grasp on the dew point thing. I do know that when I work in places like Houston and New Orleans, and go from inside air-conditioned spaces to outdoors, I have to wait until my lenses de-fog to take any pictures.

What you describe is like camping in winter down here. It gets cold at night, and you breath inside your tent or teardrop, causing moisture to condense on the inside walls -- that sometimes drip on you. Very annoying.

Been hot and humid here too. Temps in the mid to upper 90's and dewpoints in the hight 60's and low 70's which makes real feel between 95 and a bit over 100. Today should be the last day for at least a week. Temps by the end of next week are supposed to be in the 70's for highs and 50's for lows.

Not much happening, just work and more work and staying inside most of the time when not working. Finally had my last injection yesterday. I have seen some improvement but the doctor says it should be good in a week or two now. Anything is better than what it has been like.

Glenn, just remember (especially here in the south), the closer the dew point is to current ambient air temperature, the higher the relative humidity will be, & the more miserable we'll be especially with any physical activity. And, your lenses will continue to 'fog' up when going from an air conditioned space to the outside...

Isn't that more like rain? Here I am talking about the humidity being so close to the dew point… that the moisture collects on you. You move your arm through the air.. and it collects water.
