I used both ideas. I made a folding shelf, piano-hinged, with slide-locks to keep it from falling (my head is under it at night). It is slightly cut-away on one side, to access various small storage spaces, and the 120vac plugs and USB charging station behind it. Underneath the shelf, there's a hanging basket for my wife's CPAP? machine, with attached nylon bag to store the sleeping mask and hoses. She hasn't used the trailer, so I use it for other storage at night. Also, under the shelf, but mounted in the corner above mattress height, is Sterilite 3-drawer organizer, I use for my glasses, wallet & keys, and small flashlight and phone. I think I paid $12 for the basket at HD, and $5 for the drawer set at Walmart.
