I really want to come up with something at least sort of close to what I remember my childhood family room looking like. I just don't want to wait for an oil based finish to stop smelling like an oil based finish.

Question on your design. The original drawing had 2 swing out units at the rear for the kitchen.

How much does each unit weigh with/without expected items stored there?

How big does the hinge have to be to support each unit? How does the side wall have to be build to carry the weight?

Is the hinge over the trailer frame or beyond the end of the trailer?

Personal design has slide outs to expose cooking surface and frig lid. Anticipate 100# rated slide outs should carry the weight. Could go up to 150# or even 200# without much redesign.

Michael, I am getting close to the place where I am going to start working on the galley in earnest, but I have to say I am having second thoughts about doing the swing outs the way I had originally planned. I have seem some designs that are much easier, and don't involve putting a hinge in the side wall.

This is the framing that I put together for the roof vent. Figured it was easier in my shop than reaching in from the sides, while standing on a ladder.

Finally have the inside walls and ceiling done. The wood scraps pinned to the ceiling are only temporary. They are just holding things in place until the glue dries. So glad to finally be at this point.

Tom,
I used TransTint dye to "age" the cedar on my tongue box. It is quite a versatile product. I "hand-applied" the dye to stain the wood (after diluting it with water) and then applied epoxy and Emtech 9300. TransTint can be mixed directly into some water base finishes. You may want to try this with the water-base poly. (I'd experiment with a pint of the poly to make sure the two are compatible.)
