So, I finally got up the nerve to cut the hole for the a/c vent. Not nearly as difficult as my head made it out to be, just nerve racking... gotta insulate where the e track is to see how it works in the heat of the day, but inside was 72 degrees in the early evening last night.

I am going with the exact same setup in my CTC. I was wondering if there was a reason you didn't choose to vent through the floor. I have a 6" round duct that I plan on installing to run the exhaust under the trailer. This would eliminate any issue for leaks and needing a "perfect" hole in the skin.

Also, let me ask a couple of questions. I saw where FLBOY had used this setup previously but decided not to use it any more because the high current drain on startup. My point is that he had previously set it up so that the intake was vented to the exterior as well. Do you think that will be an issue? If so, how do you plan on effectively dealing with it. Secondly, as I consider venting through the wall, did you use a 6" louver? if so, where did you get it? Is the louver on the outside of the deck plate mount? I can't exactly tell what you did there. Thanks!

@ffemt. Went with the side vent because there was already a 3" vent in place. I put the marine hatch on the inside and a 6 " dryer vent on the outside. (copied off Coventry kid) got them both on amazon. The louvered vent covered any imperfections in the cut and they lined up almost perfectly! Having to shim a little with duct tape and foam , and put some paracord attached to the hose through the vent to keep it in place as I didn't use the window attachment for the unit.

We're on the road right now - in Brookings, OR - enjoying some much appreciated warmth and sunshine.

My louvred vent "flaps" at speed on the highway. In fact one of the 4 vanes got stuck underneath the one above it - I initially thought I'd lost a vane.

I drilled a couple of small holes in the top and bottom of the cover and clipped on a really small bungee cord. This has cured the "flapping".

Hope this doesn't happen to you but if it does....

Well, I ran the ac in the near 90 temps we had today. Only got to 78 inside... I haven't yet insulated the walls,(I know, I know...) but I just had to see. I did cover the obvious areas that would pull in warm air, just wondering if there is anything else to try before I start tearing it apart... I really want to start building cabinets and stuff!
Also figured out that the manual vent the factory installed is kind of a cheap piece of crap.

Current situation. Started taking the trim off to insulate. I can't get the ply off without removing the box for the ramp spring. These star screws are a pita to remove and are half stripped coming from the factory putting them in. The one that is causing the current dilemma is in the exterior skin and I don't want to ruin the integrity of the skin. Any suggestions?
Also, it sure is hot out today... think I'll go for a ride.

If your star driver isn't fitting right then the "star" screws are probably double squares. If so use a #2 square bit driver to take them out.

the screws holding the interior panels in my trailer are 8 point torx too, the red robinson screw driver works perfectly
