I get a lot of talking books from the library. I rarely listen to the radio when I drive..... recently got a 'talking book' of old time radio comedy, which I thought I would really like....
I found the skits from Jack Benny, The Great Gildersleve, Amos and Andy, Burns & Allen, etc., simplistic and silly. And the laugh tracks way too loud. The best part were the advertisement jingles. "Wash the dirt right down the drain!".
Way back when I was young and they were our basic entertainment, I loved them. I've also found the 3 Stooges and the Marx brothers now strike me as silly..... I guess a lot of things have changed... and it makes me wonder about the 3 stooge groupies...
