Happy 2021!

Postby Tom&Shelly » Thu Dec 31, 2020 9:33 pm

So I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, but I seem to remember doing that last year, and look what happened!

So, anyway, here's to a better 2021!

Could be. But as Shelly told me this morning: "2020 is hindsight".

Anyway, our resolution is to finally finish our teardrop this year (early) and go camping!

Yep, 2020 is finally in the bag, done, kaput, finished. Let's hope 2021 is a year filled with good trips, meets with friends & plenty to see & do!

Remember, we're just up the road a few hours to the north when you make your maiden voyage. Would love to see the newest version when it's finished & rolling. The shop is still stocked with tools, in case there are any minor tweaks you may have to do after a few miles of rolling. Don't think you'll need it with the approach you've taken, but it's there anyway... Best for 2021!

For essential introverts, 2020 was business as usual.

Thanks Tim!

We will try and make it up when Spring brings the warmer weather, plants and animals, and perhaps even the vaccine. :)

I look at the bright side. No matter how bad it gets it could always be worse. I managed to squeeze out 50 nights camping in 2020 (with months of camping closures). I hope to do more this year. I left one campground in the spring a day early after a group of young people were not observing social distancing. After that I focused on boondocking. In November I had to check in again at the same campground and social distancing behavior was much better. Some State campgrounds here in New Jersey are usually open year round. But not this year, After Thanksgiving they closed until April of 21. I will have to travel a bit more for a spot if I need a campground.

After Labor day campgrounds here in NJ are usually below 10% capacity. But not in 2020. Two state campgrounds I sometimes stay at were FULL in mid November. 97% of the campers were in tents. Everyone was seeking some outdoor time in any tent they could get their hands on.

RVs tents, bicycles and kayaks all come with long waits in 2020 and I suppose 2021, I was offered more money for my 5 yr old teardrop than I paid for it. I'm hoping for the best but not waiting to get as much outdoor time as possible. As soon as some new (customized) gear arrives I will be doing more winter camping. I love testing my gear.

Winter is a different ball game. I have done a lot of winter backpacking. Trailer camping in the winter is a bit different (for me). More comfortable but new challenges. The few trips I have done were actually pretty good but not for everyone that's for sure. I'm looking forward to more.

We are living a chapter in human history.

Thank You all for all the great information and help you shared with this group in 2020.

Best wishes for a happy healthy 2021.

Happy New Year to All!!! I am hoping for a better 2021. I think we all are.
Last year we had to cancel several trips. It stunk! I got a book for all of our future camping trips for Christmas. I can't wait to fill it up this year! I also got myself a present for all my hard work! 8) I used one of my gift cards towards an Alpicool!!! I can't wait to try it out! We will be needing it this year. Many more trips. Not only to campgrounds but to our little slice of heaven we bought. No electricity on it yet. So I will be using my little generator and solar panel.
In our house, I will be doing the early spring cleaning and taking a whole bunch of stuff to the charity house. Our kitchen is old. I will be updating it myself. I found a great place that makes the open countertops I would like. The cupboards we have are original to the house and rotting. The material they used in the '70s wasn't that great.
I will also be changing careers!

:wine:  Here is to a prosperous, happy, wonderful, and adventure-filled 2021!!!!!
