Fellow teardrop Builders,
I am a little disappointed in your attitudes towards some of these fellows in their garages. A good garage loaded with tools and cylinders (preferrably internal combustion) is a measurement of a man's self worth.
Please allow me to introduce you all to what we here in Minnesota call Garage Logic... anything that is worth figuring out WILL be figured out in the garage. Most of the great inventions in the world in the last 50 years have probably started out in some garage with a couple of buddies having a few cold ones or over a pot of coffee in the garage and making something that solves a problem!!
See the "finishing of the garage" is why the garage needs to be heated in the winter because we get down to 20 below and that is when the water pump goes out on the truck. And yes my garage has a 30k wall mounted a/c unit. Because tonight at 9:00pm it is still 92 degrees and it has a wood burning furnace with a propane ceiling mounted 35K heater. See the space is available for year around work.
Sheetrock and insulated walls and ceiling painted makes the lights brighter and the idea of having a nice well lite workspace is actually safer.
I would agree the $1 million for a garage is a little overboard. But, the fellow with the vehicle lift and a shower makes me think about how I might be able to accomplish that. I've got the toilet and sink already in and working.
Please fellow teardrop builders, I have also heard the garage referred to as the Men's Crisis Center !!! Whenever, I need to get away for a few moments the garage is always there. And yes this December the Norwegian (my lovely wife) and I celebrate 25 years of marriage.
So, a well designed well functioning garage is NEAT!!
Marty
