Busy day out there on the floor of the tiny camper assembly plant on our 2nd 80+ deg day, in a row even
Propane line is installed down the left side. The 12' braided line as only $25 so why not. I used PEX standoffs to basically function as grommets because the size of the grommet I could get over the fitting of the line would have had me drilling a 1.25" hole, and that is nearly half the width of the structural material, so no, plus it would have been a lose fit around the line, the PEX standoffs fit almost snug on the line. That went pretty quickly, also used a few rubber covered cable clamps to hold the line away from the frame so it can't rub transitioning down under the tongue frame, the 11lb propane tank, which showed up the other day, will live in the tongue box.
I was going to drill through the side of the coupler and frame to attach my safety chains but DOT says no. I used this leftover piece I didn't need with the beefy 7000 lb. coupler to strengthen the attachment point instead of just into the bottom leg of the channel frame where it would probably just rip out. I still need to drill a couple bolt holes.
Got a good start on the trailer wiring, electrical is running down the right side. I'm using the trailer jack hole in the coupler to pop my 7 pin pigtail up through and these table leg feet do not actually lock in to 2.25" holes, I'm guessing it probably doesn't work in a 2 5/16" hole either like they said. I'll let the RTV sit for 24 hrs until it's fully cured and see if that will be a snug enough fit to hold it, if not I'll get a couple screws in it from underneath to hold it.
Trying out the Loctite plastic adhesive to glue a piece of 1/8" rubber to the plastic foot to make a grommet, so to speak, that will allow the cable to come in at an angle. I was going to use an automotive body plug but the skip 2.25" I drilled a couple holes in the rubber and then cut a slit with a utility knife and as you can see I used my 7/8" elongated hole drill bit to make the hole.
The 1/2" wire loom is big enough to hold all the trailer wires and it just fits through the grommets. That was a bit of a challenge getting the sheet metal grommets onto the 1/8" frame.
I was working on the junction box when the little black box showed up so I can separate the blinkers from the brake lights. Thanks Tom&Shelly
Had to weld in a couple tabs to mount the junction box to, had to clip down the ears a bit on the attachment holes for the taillight converter, that's not quite going like I planned, but I have another plan
So all and all it was a productive day.
and yes, yes I did burn up 4 Harbor freight step drill bits in just 11 holes enlarging mostly existing holes from 1/2" to 7/8" and yes I was using oil
