I built the frame of my hatch to go inside the sides of the tear, and then put an aluminum flat moulding to go from the hatch over the side of the tear with the weather strip in between.

It's easyer to get the hatch to actually fit if you cut out the parts and then assemble the hatch actually inside the curve of the tear using clamps and spacers inbetween. At least, that is how I did it and it worked.

I built my hatch to go inside. The skin and trim (3/8 ) will go over the edge of the tear with the seal on the hatch side.

My hatch ribs go inside the galley walls by about 1/4" on each side. Then it was skinned with my Luan, Filon and then a aluminim trim that overhangs the walls by a 1/4". I applied my seal/weatherstrip to this overhang on my hatch.

I also beveled the hatch rib at the top to "Ramp" it into the galley walls if the hatch would get off center.

Yup, my side ribs on the hatch fit inside the walls. One day I'll pick the camera up and post some pics again 8)
