Is it ever finished? New galley cabinet work

Postby cracker39 » Sun Nov 26, 2006 1:25 pm

After our first and only camping weekend in the Squidget, Sharon and I both agreed that the open upper galley cabinets needed doors. Originally, the plan was to put stuff in the cabinets after we set up at the site. But, keeping things in the cabinets is much simpler, but doors are needed to hold the stuff in while on the road. Also, shelves help to add storage space, so these photos in my Yahoo abbum show what I did in the past week. There will be more stuff put in the cabinets before camping again.

cracker39 - Nice addition. I'm curious as to why you didn't have the upper cabinets go the full width of your camper?

Neat build, I really enjoyed all your pics of the construction.

is it ever finished

Cracker,
It seems like it is never finished. However, I have officially stopped my obssession. I am satisfied with my home built and my purchased Yoder Toter.

I noticed that I was spending too much on my hobby...so I am happy to just camp from now on.

I did consider a full with cabinet, but when I put in the open upper rear cabinets, I made one on either side of the A/C unit. In the front, I made two for two reasons. One was to match the rear with two. That left the center open, which brings me to my other reason(s). I thought that I might later add a front window, or maybe use that area to hang utensils. For now, I just hung a clock there.

My wife suggested that I put doors on the rear, but the purpose of those is to hold a small stereo unit and maybe a lamp. The doors would be open most of the time and probably be head-bangers when we went to bed.

As of now, I can't really think of any further additions unless I someday decide on the front window.
