New Manufacturer!!

Have a teardrop or a trailer for sale? Need one? Post here...

Welcome

Dear Justin,

Welcome to the board.

There is a tremendous amount of knowledge available wheter you use the search function, ask questions, or merely read posts as they happen.

As you can see from the previous posts most participants have been here a while and lack of infomation gets questioned very fast. We also have a great deal of experience with some great manufacturers and, alas, some crooks who have hurt the teardrop movement. So when many of us ask questions of new manufacturers, it is with those experiences in mind.

What some folks have already raised is the lack of price differentials between models, other may ask why there is no weight difference between models, and still others may wonder why you chose to even make your 5' wide model exceed 80" in width which will cause tremendous DMV registration problems and additional costs in certain states?

I am sure a number of the very experienced truckers and/or builders would also be able to tell us if a single, low lying red signal on the side of a teardrop near the front would be sufficient and lawful for teardrops that exceed 80".
Regards,

Guy
Keep on living, laughing, learning and loving.

Guy, A Trailer 80"wide needs marker lights 3 aft, and 1 on each side of the front to indicate that its over 80:wide. you also need a yellow marker light on the foward side, and a red marker light on the aft side if the tow and the trailer are longer than 30 foot

thanks, I think?

Like I replied on the manufacturers post I left. I am so sorry that I left the romantic glow of the computer screen and did not reply as soon as possible. As far as the information on the website, it is not 100%. It is approximately 1 week old and is mostly up there to show that we are getting off the ground. The current information on the site is based off a 6' model.
As far as being the least expensive trailer out there, not worried about that. Everyone that has looked at the trailer is overly complimentary about the fit and finish on the outside as well as the finish on the inside. Added to that is a quality torsion axle with 14" aluminum wheels and tires attached to an overkill amount of framework for longlife. I have yet to apologize for price. We have nicer cabinets in there than most of your homes. (I'll get photos quickly). Anyway, sorry to cause so much controversy. Like was said on the other post, I was referred here by another teardropper and so far have felt more crapped upon than welcomed with open arms like he said we would be. Sorry to have upset the apple cart. Maybe we should try again?!
Okay, a little help needed. I have images but am apparently not smart enough to get them into the reply. Some help and they'll be on.

LT, we're a pretty defensive bunch here but like I said in the other post, we tend to say it how we see it. Don't be pi$$ed about the responses, at least we took the time to offer some thoughts.
By the way, I like the look of your build 8)
Cheers
Paul

Photo album is up

Postby legacytrailer » Fri Dec 01, 2006 6:29 pm

Okay, I figured out the photo album and there are a few photos of the prototype trailer. PaulC: I appreciate the time taken to look don't get me wrong, but a good % of the responses were not too kind and gentle, would you agree? Hey, but what do we know, we're a bunch of potato farmers trying to build a nice product. Have fun with the photos and a good weekend.

LT, one way to turn it around would be to give a name that we can use :D
Also, look at it this way, when the doorknocking salesman calls and tries to push his product without a howdydo, we all tend to get a bit rude :(
You've also jumped into one of the best "how to build your own TD sites" around, hang in there and you will find heaps of help and info.
Cheers

Hmmm... The weight, if it's for the trailer pictured, sure seem quite heavy at 1,100 lbs.? Is that a 5 x 8' footer? I've seen plenty of ten footers that didn't weigh that much loaded with food & gear??? Just curious... :o

This is a good group, but they are frequently neither kind nor gentle. Genetics, I guess.

Welcome aboard. I live 25 miles W of you. I'd like to see your tear up close one day.
