New way to save on your taxes!

This is just ridiculous enough to be true.

Great New Way to Reduce Your U.S. Tax Bill

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just Request to be illegal

From an MD. resident to his senator

The Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes

309 Hart Senate Office Building

Washington DC , 20510

Dear Senator Sarbanes,

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of

the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask

for your assistance. I have contacted the Department

of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the

process for becoming an illegal alien and they

referred me to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my

status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stem from the

bill which was recently passed by the Senate and

for which you voted.

If my understanding of this bill's provisions is

accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in

the United States for five years, all I need to do

to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and

income taxes for three of the last five years. I know a

good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get

the process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here

legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited

about the prospect of avoiding two years of

taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any

way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively?

This would yield an excellent result for me and my

family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin

using the local emergency room as my primary

health care provider. Once I have stopped paying

premiums for my medical insurance my account figures

I could save almost $10,000 a year. Another benefit in

gaining illegal status would be that my daughter

would receive preferential treatment relative to

her law school applications, as well as "in-state"

tuition rates for many colleges throughout the

United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would

relieve me of the burden of renewing my driver's

license and making those burdensome car

insurance premiums. This is very important to me given

that I still have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the

process to become illegal (retroactively if

possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I

would be most appreciative. Thank you for your

assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,

Pete McGlaughlin

Try BEING an illegal, and see how economically great it is--especially looking at what you're gonna get paid in the first place.

And with the salary levels that most illegals work under...

90% would be entitled to REFUNDS based on what's withheld from their checks anyway. Most illegals WANT to report, and they ARE paying taxes because of witholding!!!

Ira,
When I was building the Tri-Rail track from Mangonia to Hialeah a couple years back there were plenty of "poorly documented workers" making between $18 and $28 per hour, a wage that a lot of Floridains would love to have. I know that maybe most illegals get taken advantage of but a blanket statement won't hold water with me. I know differently because I passed out their paychecks. We didn't really care to look very closely at their documentation. We were just happy to find people who would show up for a days work.

Ira, I hope you are kidding about try being " illegal" and see how economically great it is. Whats your definition of illegal? Mine means not allowed to be here. Or, Breaking the law. The money they get paid seems to be enough to get them to flood across the borders.
I always read your posts. You are an interesting guy. I disagree with most of your political opinions but I do find your new avitar a change for the better!

HAH!!!

Rob, you're right that many get paid very well, but I think you'll find that most don't. But aren't I still on target about the withholding? That money is deducted, and they don't file because they're afraid?

There was a great PBS documentary last week about this, construction companies in Washington State, I think, that had a hard time even getting illegals, and they paid VEY well.

That's what makes the issue such a weird one:

Some people are so anti-illegal alien, but the country DEPENDS on them so much. Respectabel, long-established businesses that need them to survive--and do pay them great, like you say.

I have a son in law in the landscape business and they hire a lot (most of their crew) of "documented workers". And the workers all have learned from others to beat the system. He has many young men (under 25 years old) that claim 10 or more dependents. what ever it takes to not pay taxes. He has also cases where he has hired different people at different times with the same name, SSN# and drivers license# number. The illegals aliens have a pretty tight community and teach each other how to get the documents and welfare services they want.
As a side note. when my brother (blond & blue eyed) wanted unemployment he would pretend to be hispanic and not understand english. the english speaking employment workers would just "rubber stamp" him, worked great in the late sixtys before the office had spanish speaking workers
The difficult we do now... the impossible takes a little longer

Ira,
All employees pay Social Security taxes and Medicare, withheld at the same rate as everyone. But like Gaston said even the twenty years olds claim 10 deductions, keeping income taxes paid to a minimum. I'm thinking that without these people paying into Social Security the system would be broke already. Just one of the dirty little secrets everyone in Washington is fully aware of.

You are exactly right. This country depends on these people, not just to do the so-called undesireable jobs, but to do a lot of our construction and factory jobs as well as service jobs.

I'm amazed they can get away with taking all of those deductions on the W4. It's got to be an example of the system looking the other way.

Just think how much fun you can have when someone uses your S.S.N. and clams 10 deductions, make $30k and the IRS is after you for the unpaid taxes…:x
Took my son-in-law three year to get that straitened out.

This is what I simply can't, CAN'T understand:

From day one when someone tries to do this, shouldn't the SS number match the NAME!? I mean, this incredible system of ours is THAT effed up?

When Jose Lopez uses Harvey Goldstein's number, NO ONE GETS SUSPICIOUS AT ALL!?

"Funny, you don't LOOK Jewish!!!"
