Division 2 Hoop Fans In The West Get Ready!!!

Postby Dean in Eureka, CA » Fri Mar 09, 2007 12:34 am

The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball 2007 West Region Championships is starting tomorrow and my home town team, the HSU Lumberjacks are hosting the tournament.
This is without a doubt, the biggest sporting event ever to hit the North Coast...
Anybody out West cheer for any of these teams???

Welp...
Looks like there are only two people here on this forum that cheer for any of these teams.
Juneaudave and myself...
What a game!!!
I really feel bad for Dave...
His team was takin' it to my team, but the Jacks pulled it out.

Well, Nevada Basketball isn't that far away (Reno, NV), and they're doing pretty well this year. They're ranked 10th, but they just lost to Utah St. in the WAC semifinals. :(

It's neat to see Reno get behind the hometown team. The Grand Sierra Resort in the middle of town, which used to be the Hilton/Bally/MGM, is lit up in Wolf Pack blue. It's pretty.

I'm actually from Chico, CA, but they got rid of their basketball years ago.

That's right Dave...
Didn't know if you knew this, going into our bet...
The last team to beat Humboldt State at home was Alaska Anchorage... '06 season, in fact... They beat us twice that season. :o

Dave,
Read some stories this morning on last night's matchup...
I gotta say, had Alaska Anchorage Carl Arts not suffered a late first half hip pointer... I'd be sending you something instead.
He was the game's leading scorer with 21 points, all in the first half.
The Jacks have their work cut out tonight as they go up against the Grand Canyon University 'Lopes.
The 'Lopes cruised to an easy victory in yesterday's opening round...
Shooting 70% from the floor, while manhandling the Falcons from Seattle Pacific University 87-65.
Even though our teams are no longer in the same conference, don't give up on your Seawolves... They are a fine program.
Maybe we'll get to do this again next year... Shoulda done it last year when we were conference foes.
Also read this morning that 70 tickets (Limited to two tickets per person) are still available for tonight's game and go on sell at 4:00pm...
This is the last stand for East Gym... They're building a new basketball arena for next year. :(
I'm not even going to try to get a ticket, as I'm sure there were already 35 people waiting in line last night. :?
I'll stay at home and listen to it on the radio....

Whoa... Hold on a second Dave!
My kids cry every time I fix venison, although I can easily sneak venison burger by them in spagetti every time...
Put your family first, don't go to any great expense on my account..
Tell yaa what...
Just go box up them old dusty wood fenders you're not gonna use, I'll even pay the shipping for yaa... Won't cost you a cent and your kids can have pizza for dinner!
Hey...They're locally made.

Trailing 37-40 at the break, the Jacks came roarin' back in the second half to beat Grand Canyon 95-81!!!
HSU will play conference foe, Cal State San Bernardino in the championship game for the Western Regional Title...
These teams split with on another this season, each winning at home.
The winner to move on to the Elite Eight in Springfield Mass.
Maybe Tom S. will get to go cheer my Jacks on!!!???

Dave,
8.5 seconds left, we had to go the length of the court to tie it.
Went for three to win it...
Missed, got the rebound...
Made the shot for 2!!!...

but missed the buzzer...
