Some of those songs I'm not familiar with and would like to hear them. How do you get the music to play?

I was raised back in the hills so far I didn't know there was anyone else. and after all these years , I have lived many different places, BUT.... that place IS and will ALWAYS be Home For Me. :) I go back from time to time and look at that place, and For ME....... nothing has changed. ;) I might pull my Teardrop down through there and get some pictures of it. the Roads are still dirt where I came from.

I remember a lot of good times growing up in the 60s-70s, but I know there were a lot of bad things going on, too.

LOL, I remember kids riding bikes in the mosquito fog. What were we thinking (my dad wouldn't let me, or I probably would have).

Growing up a white kid in the suburbs, I'm sure my memories are different than a black kid growing up in rural Mississippi.

As I get older, I am finding that good and evil are with us always -- they just look different with each passing year.

I grew up in rural west Ga. and for me the sixties were great. Sure, there were bad things (as there are during any decade/time period) but when you're a kid, you're not focused on the bad stuff. So having said that, I had a great childhood.

The music of the sixties was about as diverse as you could get. Good lord, from The Ventures to the British Invasion to Motown to Psychedlics to Hard Rock. Like Neil Young said, "From Hank to Hendrix".

There were a lot of great vocal groups (The Hollies, The Beach Boys, Supremes etc.) and a lot great guitar playing (George Harrison, Clapton, Hendrix, Jeff Beck, even Chet Atkins etc.) from that era.

And here's a little trivia/tibit for you. Roy Orbisons "Pretty Woman" (Nov./'63) was the last # 1 record by an American artist before the British Invasion.

Then it was " YEAH, YEAH, YEAH.....YEAH!!!!............ :applause:
I poked it with a stick..........

Absolutely! I'm increasingly coming to the conclusion that there is no 'better' or 'worse' times, just times with which you're more or less familiar. I rather doubt that humans have it in them to get much better, or much worse, other than temporarily. For each improvement in society, we probably take an equivalent step back - for example, we get to the point that it's no longer acceptable for a man to go home and beat his wife senseless, but then we won't intervene and can only call 911.

And I think the same thing applies between countries - there aren't better and worse, just different. One may have a better political system, but another will have a more developed social responsibility - it's all swings and roundabouts. Again the one you're used to seems 'better', but that's just familiarity not really being better.

I do like 60s and 70s music better, for the most part. Songwriting seems better on the older stuff. The songs told a story. It seems like a lot of today's music is the same fifteen words of lyrics, repeated endlessly.

I was listening to Crosby, Stills and Nash last night. Good lyrics, good musicianship, and good harmonies.

Couldn't agree more. I never tire of Doo Wop, Oldies & Classic Rock with the exception of a few artists like Hendricks, AC/Dc etc. and they don't seem to want to kill a cop either, amazing. I do hope I never have to endure listening to "American Pie" again. Danny

Okay, you can have the DooWop, and I'll take the Hendrix. I can live without AC-DC, too.

"I Heard It Through The Grapevine" now there's one I had forgotten about and I'll just forget about it again

Sorry about the Hendrix he just reminds me sooo much of the wild drug induced 60's in Southern California, the Doors and the Moody Blues bother me too. If I have a desire to listen to some of his songs then Stevie Ray Vaughn will do for me. :) Danny
