It may be a bit of extra work, but you could make a cradle to the exact shape of the hatch. then place your skin in and the hatch on top of that. You will be able to apply lots more gravity to it in this manner. If you made a pattern for your spars then just use that to make the cradle. I think that 4 supports would to the trick.
Or flip it all over and put the cradle on top of the hatch.

Hmmm... Ya got an idea there... we will be trying more sand BAGS
tonight and if that doesn't do it, then we might have to try your idea. But that is a lot of work though...
