I'm gonna crawl out on a limb here but..... I think all American automobile engines rotate in the same direction! (...still can't find "proof" ... but I'm looking!) For sure the distributor, cam(s) and belt driven accessories can turn in different directions... depending on their physical placement/gearing/pully arangement, etc.
I did find one little pdf blurb from a Smithsonian article (geared towords little kids!) that made that statement.... but I need better info!
I know that some internal combustion engines for twin engine airplanes run "backwards" (*turn the other direction*) (example: Piper Navajo Chieftan, and various marine engines, etc.) but still can't find any HARD FACTS stating that all auto engines turn the same way...... but I think they do! ..... at least in Merica.
Still searching......

Odd.... but most info comes from marine engine sites.... they reference the "standard" rotation as being clockwise when viewed from the front, and "non-standard" as counter clockwise rotation.
