An event occured today in Kenosha, WI that compelled me to write to someone, anyone, who cares to hear the story. Today we layed to rest Deputy Sheriff Frank Fabiano Jr, who was killed in the line of duty last week. He was making a simple traffic stop and was fatally wounded after an exchange of gun fire. The man who killed Officer Fabiano, exchanged gun fire with another officer who came to assist, then fled through the woods. He was apprehended two hours later with the hand gun still in his waistband. He offered no other excuse except he had had an argument with his wife, drank a bottle of Tequilla, did $200.00 worth of cocaine and was having a bad night. Turns out this lowlife has a record in several states all the way from Texas where he entered this country illegally.
The funeral procession lasted 45 minutes with law enforcement from all over WI, and several other states. It was one of the most moving things I have ever witnessed. I was brought to tears.
Officer Fabiano leaves behind a wife and small children. My heart goes out to them.
This was the first police officer killed in the line of duty in Kenosha since 1919.
It's going to be interesting to follow the trial to see what defense is mounted. Too bad WI no longer has the death penalty.
