Very Good KJ

I'm glad it was a small error. 8)

I did not know some of the sites had different classifications in area "B" That is good to know and a reminder to check when the others start reserving their sites to check that out.
I want to go camping now but too much to do to get - r - done.

Great !
Bob glad you are able to come at the end of July.
I'm still saving gas and money to make the weekend.
I have a very very busy next three weeks ahead with class and exam.
But I'm having fun learning and playing Boy Scout ( not realy ). 8)
I hope I make it thru the exam Ok.
I need to be working on the trailer but weather and work have slowed that down. At least if I put a tarp on it it will be rainproof  ( three tarps ).
I might still building on the trailer at Petit Jean at the end of July. :R
I just need to make sure no parts fall off while getting there. :R :worship:

This will be a no go for me , for a different reason though.

Got a contract on my house (pending the inspection and appraisal thing tomorrow) but looks like it's a go and closing will be July 27. If I don't have a house by then, and am living out of the Jewel Box then I might just show up !!! haha
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

Quite a few years ago, I had read an article in Backpacker Magazine about Petit Jean SP and had wild dreams about how beautiful it would be. In August of '05... Anna, Maggie and I made our way toward the park. We hit Hwy. 154 heading East off of Hwy. 7 and I thought, "You've got to be kidding me!!! Where are all these mountains and pine trees at!?!?!". I thought I had been dooped or took the wrong road.

After about 12 miles of flat, winding roads (and me getting mad), I see a Petit Jean sign............ no sooner than I see it, the road goes straight up and it's a 2-mile roller coaster ride to the park.

I couldn't believe what a change in scenery it was!! There is so much hiking to do, it's not even funny. The Mather Lodge has a resturant that serves everybody and is cheep cheep. It overlooks a HUGE valley and there are Hummingbird feeders on the deck that will keep you entertained all day long!!

This is a "MUST DO" park even if it's not for a TD gathering  !!!

Warpony,
Hope you're planning on coming. This will be our first trip in our teardrop. We planned on building a teardrop after we were at Lake Bistineau (we were on the motorcycle for that trip), but found a nice one for sale in Austin. We're looking forward to the trip to Petit Jean.

Pat,
Good luck on getting your trailer ready. I have a few things to change and a few personal touches to add to our trailer before the trip also.

Hey Madjack, Glad you liked it. I hope you guys are able to come. I think this will be a great trip. Arkansas is one of our favorite places to go. Only a days drive away, but far enough to feel like we're gone.

We bought a 4 x 10 homebuilt teardrop from a fella in Austin. He said he used this forum a lot while building it, but I don't know what his username is. He built it in 2005 and used it a few times, but said his wife prefered the 38 footer with three slidouts to the teardrop. I guess she won. He did a nice job on it. It's aluminum skinned with a 2" tube frame, oak galley and interior and is equipped with a sink, hot water heater, 110 & 12v lighting, microwave, refrigerator and AC. I'm adding a few other necessities . . (charger, inverter, etc . .)

Jeff, Anna, and Maggie heading to PJ?!?! As well as the Jack of Maddness with the Poor Girl (well maybe)!!

And reviewing the map, it sure looks like a lot of folks will be there! We've never camped in Arkansas, and are really looking forward to it!
