trim

I was going to order some for my next build that I'm just starting but the catalog says you have to get 10 pieces at a time.. I sure don't need 160 feet of it... I've ordered some other things from their catalog but haven't received them yet. Their prices seem reasonable.

i used something similar, the insert trim molding. it has a channel to insert a strip to cover the screw heads and looks great. very easy to install and bends like butter.

It's standard trim and if you have a RV repair shop close by they should have it. Make sure you take along the measurement of the longest piece you need. I used it and took a hack saw with me to buy a couple 16 foot lengths. Just floated the aluminum skin under it.

i got mine from a local rv dealer. it was about 2.50 a foot plus i bought the insert. it is also listed in the go-rv catalog. pretty easy to find. i trimed with 1/2 alum angle and did it twice. annealed the aluminum and went slow and i just never liked the way it looked. the insert trim gives ME a much cleaner finished look. it will be what i use for sure on the sharkshack II.

Yep, I got it ... it's called Regular Roof Edge Molding ... and it really is nice to finish off the roof-to-wall edges of your teardrop. Bends easily, and working out the wrinkles you'll get in those tight radii is a breeze. Very traditional looking without that traditional price.

But here's the deal ... I can't ship it through USPS, UPS, FedEx, or DHL any longer than 100", and freight trucks will kill you! Any decent RV Supply House or repair facility will have the stuff (or can get it) in 16' lengths. If you need it longer than 8', go there! Suggestion: take along a piece of 2" PVC pipe the length you need to haul it back in ... it'll keep the wind from folding it up like a pretzel!

Thanks for the kind words, Ira! But, "nicest guy in the world"? You must be getting ready to ask me for something ... ... ...!

I have that edge trim on my Jim Dandy. Just like Grant said that trim bends around a tight radius really well. The short leg hangs down the side about 3/8" so it will cover your siding easily. I like the traditional look of it better as it gives my tear a more vintage look.

Steve,

There are a couple of flavors in the catalog...one with a 3/16" lip and one with a 716" lip. Both have the 1" insert track and you can get the insert in lotsa colors.
