Hatch Lock and Latch Difficulty - Request Assistance - Over..



Lil Bear Shuttled over T Handles and Latches - If you look at the radius on our Hatch. The bottom of the Hatch rests on the back side of the frame ..




Isnt that too low to install the T-Handles? Or how can the Voyager Crew Correctly Install Handles and Latches- Over..

Voyager, this is caped Canaveral answering your mayday...looks to me like you screwed the pooch on that hatch job.
why not put T-handles on the side of the hatch so you can hook the side wall with the cam, Over.

P.P.S. Finn, I've seen hatches that low and that wrapped around before. As long as your hatch can clear your sidewalls, you can install your hardware.

With the hardware you have pictured, you'll have to install it all the way down. It's not as bad as you might think.

The only other option is to go with a garage door style lock, which would allow you to install the latch higher up.

Mike Im not sure if that shaft is long enough...Maybe Im wrong.. but again I have a small doubt.. here is what I would sort of want it to look like ... with the Handles...Gee by the time I get done with the Hatch lights and warning reflectors and all it,ll look like ... DASHBOARD... Notice fog Light (Lower Left Corner Frame)

Maybe it looks a lil awkward since Ive never seen one LIVE sort of speak..

Another thing we were thinking of is sinking an area on each side like a pocket and finish it off nicely so the T - Handles are in an individually enclosed pocket like.. do you understand what I mean possibly?

Is that ok looking that low as on that photo above?

and what I'm suggesting is to mount the handles a little bit closer to the edge and up from where your at in the pic and hook the side wall instead of the floor to latch it.

Just in case you need to and hadn't thought of it, the square rod on the handle can be replaced with a piece of longer stock. Just a matter of drilling a hole for the pin and cutting to the length you need.

My latches go into the wall and not the floor.

Thanks I just checked that rod does come out quite easily..Now why didnt I notice that earlier...
