Did anyone here ever see the show from England called "Top Gear", and particularly the one where they set out to "kill" a Toyota pickup.

They did all kinds of terrible things to it, including putting it on the roof of a tall building that was to be imploded. The building fell, with the truck, and when they got the truck out of the rubble, it started and ran. I think it finally died after they sank it in the English Channel.

Fartknocker cost me $400 bucks. I had just spent $400 on tires too.

It cranks, it runs, the radio works, its paid for and it only costs me about $60 bucks a month for upkeep and insurance. Not including gas though 19mpg  OH, and I have to charge the A/C every 3 weeks. ah, but only in the summer... :D

The timing belt is supposed to be replaced at regular intervals. Usually around 60K for some engines, up to 100K for others. You are lucky you didn't bend any valves -- that evngine must have valve clearance, or you were just lucky.

A note to everyone: Read and follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. Doing so can save thousands of dollars in the long run.

Yea, I know... I should have been aware of the timing belt. IT is scheduled to be changed every 120k miles. And yes, I am lucky, I found out after, that it was an engine that has the valve clearance.. as you say. My Pop learned that his is not and had his timing belt replaced too before it broke.

It's all good now, just need to figure out where the leak in the AC is...

Hi all,
I'm in South Dakota at my son's.
Glad the mobile home he shares with his Air Force buddy has air conditioning.
Can't believe is basically 5 days 10 pages have been added. :o
At least now I have a computer I can check in on. My husband & son are busy building a computer.
That leaves me with some free time. I have a book I'm reading & can get on the internet. What more could you want.

The truck was already 20+ years old and used mainly on a sheep ranch. With a wrench and some oil they got it running again (had to replace windshield for safety when they drove it thru a building) and then they set it on fire, started a large fire in the bed and a second one in the cab. A big enough fire that you couldn't get anywhere near it. When the fire went out and it cooled down they drove it on stage. Really amazing and I'm not surprised

Have fun Elmo

Miriam I read in another thread you were working on a book, didn't want to hijack it so I figured this thread has no real purpose so I'd ask about it here.

 Thank you Scott. I have been writing a book but I am a terrible writer. It was to be a soft middle age romance and so far it is an adventure whacked out jumped around mess that only I can keep up with........ Then I found this place and it is not edited to weed out some of the people or events. Too much drama I think...

I will watch the "roll playing' and see how it is done. I might get some practice that way.
