All that extra power broke the timing belt 3 days later. Didn't know nuting about no stinking timing belt. Fartknocker cost me $400 bucks. I had just spent $400 on tires too.
It cranks, it runs, the radio works, its paid for and it only costs me about $60 bucks a month for upkeep and insurance. Not including gas though 19mpgOH, and I have to charge the A/C every 3 weeks.
ah, but only in the summer...

The timing belt is supposed to be replaced at regular intervals. Usually around 60K for some engines, up to 100K for others. You are lucky you didn't bend any valves -- that evngine must have valve clearance, or you were just lucky.
A note to everyone: Read and follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. Doing so can save thousands of dollars in the long run.

Did anyone here ever see the show from England called "Top Gear", and particularly the one where they set out to "kill" a Toyota pickup.

They did all kinds of terrible things to it, including putting it on the roof of a tall building that was to be imploded. The building fell, with the truck, and when they got the truck out of the rubble, it started and ran. I think it finally died after they sank it in the English Channel.

Miriam I read in another thread you were working on a book, didn't want to hijack it so I figured this thread has no real purpose so I'd ask about it here.
