I'd get a bigger American made truck to haul your trailer with. 8)

My truck is American, Chevrolet ! The finest trucks built! I don't think a bigger one would solve my problem. I just have to shorten the jack.
Thanks. Aaron

Rocky, it's one of them thar' LOWRIDERS...
if'n it were me, I'd get a adjustable riser type ball hitch to get the trailer up in the air where it belongs.. :R

Lowered but not a lowrider, I dropped it 4" in the rear and 3" in the front.
The new suspension handles great, I was amazed how much smoother it was and cornering is much improved.
I cant even tell the teardrop is back there. Not bad for a truck that's almost 40 years old. But definitely not a lowrider! No twicepipes, no 100 spokes, no dubs, no dingleberries hanging in the window and no hydraulics! Aaron

:) :D
That made me smile. I really don't have anything against Fords, but I am definitely a Chevy (and Jeep) fan.

Ya just answered your own question. A hydraulic riser in the rear of the tow. Jack the truck up upon landing. Swing the jack into place and let out the juice. :)
Growing older but not up !

Sure glad we're not friends. Think my Ford looks pretty good. Also lowered about 4" in the rear and 3" in front. Like I said, I use a hyd jack when I have to, which is most of the time.

I would still be your friend even though you drive one of those! Actually your Ford is very nice! I just don't like the newer ones, I had several very bad Ford experiences and will never buy another.
Cool ride!! Aaron

P.S. There is a reason Ford has droped to the number 4 auto maker.

Yup - But it sure has nothing to do with their trucks . . . . actually, it's in spite of their trucks - If they didn't build such excellent trucks, they would likely be #5 already ;)

"The Ford F-150 is part of the F-Series, a descriptor used to cover the entire succession of Ford pickups that have been in production for nearly 60 years. Since that genesis, millions of Ford trucks have been sold. In fact, the F-150 has been the most popular vehicle sold in the United States for nearly every year of the past three decades"

I've been a 'Chevy Nut' for nearly 40 years - Corvettes, Camaro's, Chevelles and even a station wagon, but you couldn't give me a Chevy truck - I'd take either a Dodge or a Ford over a Chevy truck. It appears most of the country agrees with me too :D

Ironically, GM sell nearly twice as many trucks as Ford, You have to take into account the fact that half the trucks sold by GM are Chevy and Chevy alone sell nearly as many trucks as Ford but GMC sells nearly as many truck as Ford as well, Therefore The combination of Chevy and the identical GMC trucks sell nearly twice as many as ford.
That is the only way ford can legally claim to be "The highest selling truck in the world" when the fact is they only sell about half as many as GM.
It's senseless for me to argue quality of Ford, I don't build them, but I have a grudge against them as I bought one and the thing broke down constantly and parts literally fell of of it inside and out. My daughter bought one, constant trouble and finally sold after it was only a year old for half the new price,
GM vehicles have a far better resale value so it must say something about the longevity of a GM truck, My 69 has the original engine and has never been touched, not bad for a truck that is nearly 40 years old.
OK, Im done . Aaron

Do you have any numbers to back that up? I would be interested in reading them. If you're correct in saying that General Motors sells an equal number of GMC branded trucks and Chevrolet branded ones, then when combined they are probably in 3rd, behind Dodge also because GMC by itself is 4th, behind Ford, Dodge and Toyota (in that order) in sales of full sized pickups . . . . and Toyota doesn't sell all that many full sized trucks - Yet

I'm 99% sure you can combine every General Motors manufactured pickup (under any brand name) and still not be anywhere near Ford's total production. At any rate, I'll bet you a months pay that your statement "GM sells nearly twice as many trucks as Ford" is in fact not true . . . . and not even close to true

"GM vehicles have a far better resale value so it must say something about the longevity of a GM truck, My 69 has the original engine and has never been touched, not bad for a truck that is nearly 40 years old" - Question . . . . if the above person needed a new truck, why in the world would they even consider buying any other brand instead of another Chevy

The source of my statement was from a couple different magazine articles, I cant remember exactly which one But am pretty sure one of them was Road and Track, One article was about statements Ford was making about selling more trucks than any other any auto maker, The journalist had investigated it and found that if you combine trucks built by Chevrolet and the identical trucks built by GMC that Ford sold almost half as many .
The other article was about all truck manufacturers and longevity of their products, They found that out of all makers the registration of GM trucks declined less each year than the others showing that GM trucks were being used longer therefore lasting longer.
As for why I bought a Ford? it was cheaper! I also owned a 64 Mustang but sold it soon after I bought it, the door latch tore out of the jamb and as soon as I saw how cheaply it was built the for sale sign went in the window.
I have no reason to make up a story, I never considered that I would be accused of making up a story, I was just relating something I had read, so I wont argue the point or make a bet nor will I take the time to research the exact publication I read it in I am not one to argue about Ford or Chevy or what ever car maker, I don't build cars but I do know when one falls apart, I know when one nearly kills someone like when my mothers brand new 1994 Mustang had the rear axle lock up on her and spin out of control.
I'm sure others have had a bad experience with Chevy vehicles , I have not. That's why I will continue to buy them exclusively unless I somehow get rich and can afford a Ferrari!!
Again, I never thought some one would think I was making up some story just to satisfy my own loyalty to an auto maker. I certainly wouldn't make up a story and place it on a public forum .
Anyway, from now on I will not make a statement unless I have documented proof that I did not make it up.
Thanks! Aaron

That is one NICE looking tear - Truck too!

Hope you don't have any problems shortening the jack. I understand now why you didn't go with the vertical jack bolted in the hole on the hitch . . . . you wouldn't be able to lower the tailgate without putting a dent in it
