Hello from NW Florida - Land of the Blue Angels

Postby Unkl Ron » Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:22 am

Unkl Ron, here...
I've been lurking around the site for about 2 years. Last weekend I figured it was time to officially sign on (so I could actually "see" all the cool stuff you folks have been doin). Posted some picts of my Tear Drop in my Album. Also some plans for a Flag Pole/Mobile, if anyone hasn't seen it yet, it may be worth a look-see. I'm struggling trying to figure out how to attach picts. or a .jpg file to a messge on this site. So for now, my album has all the show-and-tell graphical stuff.

I've been camping since the early 50's. Resided in Missouri for 20 years, then spent 40 years in California and early last year moved to Florida. Over the years I've built more things than I can remember and owned more tents, Westfalia(s), other RV's, Camper Vans, Truck Campers, etc., than any person should have a right to own - But, this is America, and Camping is still a notch or two better than 3 day old Chili. After this last move, I decided to buy yet another Camper - so a new TD was the logical choice, since it's just me, now. Nowadays I prefer to spend my (ahem) leisure time camping, rather than building (OR sittin in a Mega$$ house on wheels - but, to each his own - no disrespect intended).

Ordered a Camp-Inn TD (well, technically it's a RainDrop) in Feb.'06 - picked it up November '06. What a hoot!! TearDrops are THE way to go... Been all over the states (for about the 40-11th time) since I got it. Made some trip(s) to Missouri, Louisiana, New Mexico, California, Tennessee, Kentucky, Carolinas, yada, yada, yada; and all points in between. Oh yeah; and lots of trips to the State Parks here in Florida. Really like camping in (ahem) sandy campsites. Boy, the SP's here have a ton of raccoons AND armadillos. Curious little critters. B'Fore I got here the only time I've really seen any was on the interstate (on in a zoo).

I've probably exceed my monthly message word limit by now, so I'll sign off until another time.
Kindest Regards to all,
Ron

As for posting pics... It's easy. Just copy and paste in the URL from your album pic, highlight it and click on the "Img" button above the text box. That adds the image tags. Or, if you have pics hosted on something like Photobucket.com... It's one click to copy the Url with tags already added.

You should try to make it to LCG. Lots and lots of fellow teardroppers will be there. I'm shure they would love to check out your raindrop. There were a couple of them at Minden, we checked them out, what a cool trailer. If you do decide to come out, get you reservation early because the campground is filling up fast!

I think that it is safe to say that it is the biggest gathering in the area. Onf of your Pan Handle co-horts (Mary K) is slaed to be there too.

Ron,

Coool! Good to see you here. There is a really good bunch here and you will fit in well.

Ron did leave one thing out. I believe he holds the record for the Camp-Inn customer who hauls the most stuff in his teardrop. After putting it on a scale loaded I would guess that he is bringing along a good 700lb of stuff in his trailer. So, he is pretty serious about his travels and his leisures.

:D

By the way, do check out the gathering for which Rocky is refering too. Sounds like it is going to be a good one.

Hello and welcome from another NW Floridian.

Very nice TD you have

What is your favorite NW Florida Campground? I am still building my TD so I have not been camping yet. A good recommendation on the local CG's would be a bonus.

Yes, please try to come the the LCGII. IT's going to be lots of fun!!

Again, Welcome to the forum! :dancing :dancing

Or you could come to a Florida gatherings listed in the SE section of the forum. There is one in November at Anastasia State Park by St Augustine, Florida and another in Febuary 2008 at Little Talbot State Park by Jacksomville, Florida. It is a Florida Chapter of the Tear Jerkers gatherings that are coming up in the future
