Toyota won't pay for who's stupidity? Mine, or thier employee's. Of course they won't pay for mine but this situation was all their fault as all the blame lies with them. I met my obligation by taking it in at their prescribed maintenance interval. Failing to do the maintence correctly (not checking for leaks) is their fault.
I've read about this happening to a couple people with this same truck and the replacement cost of the engine was $20K. I don't know if it was the dealership or Toyota itself who paid for their replacement, all I know is that the customer didn't pay. There is no low oil pressure light, just an oil pressure gauge. Which is what I was watching when I had to get it back to work.
This time I was calm, didn't yell or raise my voice. I just said that I wanted to talk to the service manager. I told him my problem and he took care of the rest. I'm saying that if they allow it to happen again, I'll drive it till it siezes up. One time, OK 2 times no way.
