It all comes to where you have lived all your life and what your accustomed to wherever you may live.
All countries have its good and bad points..

Good point Heikki!
Regardless of what any governmental or non governmental agency uses as criteria for deciding the 'best' place to live, everyone has different requirements/expectations. I personally could not live in Finland. At my age the long cold, dark winters really 'turn me off' so it obviously wouldn't be the 'best' place for me. Actually I can't think of a place that would be 'ideal' for me as it would depend on the time of year since I like to do so many things that are dependent on weather/temperature, etc. I think I already live in a great location, relatively centrally located (USA wise), generally mild climate ('cept for a few weeks in summer), lots of opportunities for the kind of recreation that I like, cost of living not too bad, pretty fair medical care, very few (so far) really intrusive government agencies/policies, & I'm able to drive & pull the TD to lots of 'outta state' locations for things I can't find locally. Hope everyone's as satisfied with their life as I am at this moment!May change tomorrow tho
wolfix wrote:My favorite story about our perceptions of other countries is this...........
There was a guy from Denver,Colorado traveling thru Switzerland. He was gazing at the snow capped Alps and commented to the Swiss stranger next to him.....
" Aren't those the most beautiful mountains you have ever seen?"
The Swiss gentleman commented.....
"You think those are beautiful? You should see the Rockies."

Heikki,
My daughter who travels a lot. She just spent 3 weeks traveling thru interior China. As beautiful as it was, she really appreciated her new home in Copenhagen, Denmark. Of all her travels she loves the Scandinavian countries. And that is where she plans on settling and calling home with her Danish boyfriend. She has commented on spending a few weeks in Finland on holiday. She loved it.
And with her being a child of corn country here in the midwest USA, I can fully understand why the young want to move other places. The other places have a little more excitement to offer the youth. But as yopu get older the idea of traffic jams, impolite people, and the fast life loses it's appeal........
Someone here in the midwest should start a theme park similar to "Dollywood" and Disneyland" called "Old Fogey Land." That would give Branson Mo a run for the money.
[I personally think northern Minnesota is the greatest place on earth.]

I have to laugh ...... Over in Denmark my 5'2" blonde daughter tells me she is the land of giants.
Yes,
Matter of fact in several years I am planning on spending several months traveling throughout that part of Europe. I will make a point of getting in contact with you when Finland becomes part of the plan.
I would never live in Vegas.Joanne wrote:I was in the checkout line of the grocery store yesterday and was shocked to read the cover of National Geographic Adventure magazine declare that Las Vegas is the #1 adventure city in the US!!

Vegas isn't a bad place to live but I'm not sure that I agree with their assessment.
