Home made wheel chocks

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Why not use a piece of rope to hold them together?
Friction will hold the chocks in place against the tyre.
I've seen aircraft held in place this way. The rope was used to carry them, nothing else.

We camped on an asphalt slab one time that had a slight incline. Without chocks we'd have been rolling down the road.

There is one camp ground that scares my wife. The sites are paved and drain toward the (Ohio) river. My wife is always concerned about rolling into the river at night (a little paranoid). These wheel chocks are a great idea, although I like to roll the teardrop in be hand and use the single chocks to stop it near it's final spot.

The dual chocks are a great idea that can be used to finalize the position of the tear.

Good job.

Here are some wheel chocks made out of firewood and rope. I thought there was a better picture of it, but I can't find it this morning. Maybe Dave can help. Meanwhile, look closely at the first picture on this page...

I always carry a couple of 1.5 foot lengths of 2x6 to level the trailer, and 4 - 6 inch pieces of 2x3 with a chamfered long side. I always block both wheels.

After setting up, I grab the wheel and rock it back and forth pushing the chock against the wheel to get the chock block nice and tight under the wheel so it can't slip out... I have the h/f 1,800# trailer with stock wheels, so it is easy to grab the wheel.

Then I adjust the tongue jack to get every thing level. Everyone has their own system. I carry the blocks in one of those storage boxes along with extension cords, wheel lock, cable tv cables, etc. Puts it all in one place and makes it easy to carry around.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery they say! Thanks for using my design, Michele!
I have found a need for one small change to my design. I camped on some soft ground a few weeks ago, and with the tire sunk a little into the soil, the chocks sat a little higher on the tire, and would just barely fit! I need to lengthen the adjusting slot a little to make them fit easier.

When I went to the junk yard for a mini spare that i found in an RX7 I also found a folding metal wheel chock. Cool! I thought. I need one more!

I had to dig through 3 or 4 more RX7s to find another.

In the process I found a couple of aluminum jacks that I could use for parking jacks.
