Heikki... Prolly Andrew's "Trailer for Two" plan from the 1947 Popular Mechanics is pretty darn close to the Original Kit profile... except for the bottom curve in the front the Kit doesn't have. They were both designed to be cut out of a 4 x 8' sheet of plywood. Yeah, I wouldn't mind having a good set of "Kit Plans" too  ?

Finn, check with Grant. He can also do you a templete of the profile. Which also will show cabinets and door location.

You know that one that is built back east somewhere is a pretty close klone.

Also George at the teardrop Fix-it-Shop makes a kit that when assembled looks like the real thing. Here's a quote from George's site.
"Teardrop Fix-It-Shop reproduces exact replicas of Kit and Kenskill Teardrop Trailers. These trailers are available as a pre-cut do-it-yourself kits or can be built to order."

Hi Gage and Brick

I guess I should of worded it a little different.. my apologies.. I do have a nice template from Grant.. but I guess Im looking for the width and height when its on the frame...

Do the walls sit on top of the frame or hang on to the sides.. I just want to make sure I have this cut to proper measurements..

Im going to have Grants drawings done onto a computer here this coming week so then it can be cut on the Cnc.. And Id like some info as to what the parts of the hatch look like..The programmer told me to find out if I possibly can..

Yes Gage as you say I have the drawing also where it shows the places of the cabinets.. 8) 8) ;)

This is going to look real nice. :)

Heikki ;)

PS here are photos of Grants drawing... I just want to get the floor situated correctly and the sides on the way they are supposed to be..

I have found 122cm or 4 foot wide aluminum in Mirror Polished or normal aslo.

and then I dont have the drawings of the hatch but maybe thats not so important? How thats actually built

Hey, Heikki!

On the original KITs, the walls hung down past the floor about 2" to cover the frame rails (this is shown on the drawing I sent you ... ;) ...!). Since the overall width of the body was 4' and the walls were 1/2" plywood, that would make the plywood floor 47" wide. I'm pretty sure I did, but I think I sent you a sheet that showed a better way to do this ... ...?

Also, the original KITs sat pretty low, maybe less than 12" ground clearance at the frame, so overall height was less than 5'. Rounding out the fender widths to 9" (remember, neither side were the same width, and neither were 9") will give you an overall width of about 66".

I can't say for certain about the Galley Lid framing without going to look, myself, but I do know it was open (not boxed). My preference would be to have your side ribs connected by four cross-beams and then boxed, but if you are going for the truely vintage KIT repro look, then have a look at some pics of the open galleys of an original or restored original.

This is just my opinion, but the original KITs had some design flaws and shortfalls ... if I were to build a modern-day version but still stay true to the overall KIT design, then I'd certainly try to address the flaws & shortfalls on the new build. Staying faithful to the KIT lore doesn't necessarilly mean you need to reprise their mistakes ...

Good Luck, my Friend, and as always ...

CHEERS!
