picture "glasses" flash glare fix?

Postby sdtripper2 » Tue Mar 11, 2008 7:35 pm

When taking pictures of people with glasses there is often a glare or a white
spot on their glasses that take away from the pictures best showing.

What program or special effect has anyone used to eliminate this glare?
Are there free programs to correct this glare?

A polarized filter would probably reduce it. Polarized glasses are cuts down reflected glare off glass and water. We stopped at Balmorhea State Park on the way home from Hanksville. They have a 3million gallon spring fed pool. When we were there it was drained down for cleaning. The deeper sections still had about 4ft of water.

I would comment on the turtles and fish in the water as we walked around. Finally Mel said, "I have no idea what you are talking about I don't see anything." I didn't realize that my glasses were polarized and her's weren't. I could see right down to the bottom with the glasses on but without them all you see is the reflections on top.

if your pictures are posed, have your subject lower glasses a little farther down the bridge os their nose. Use a circular polorizer, their are different types

IC you are both talking about proactive considerations.
My situation is with pictures already taken and the glare is there ... staring at me.

I have used PaintShop and pick a color close and pencil dot the color in to
fill in the glare however it isn't a refined fix.

Again I am looking for an after the fact fix for the glasses glare in pictures. :)

Steve,
This is a tough fix, as usually with a glare or reflection, the image data is effectively missing. It's tough to "fix" what isn't there. In many cases, you just have to recreate the missing pixels, using various techniques. There's no one right way to do it, but a good place to start is to learn one one of the flavors of Photoshop. I've been using it professionally for almost 20 years now, so I'd be happy to help you out if you have a particular photo you're trying to fix. Just send me a PM.

Steve,
If possible, bounce your flash instead, while taking the shot.
