If I stay at my current job I will rally for 4 ten hour workdays(on a 40 hour week we currently work 4 nine hour and one 4 hour day). The company has about 80 employees, and about 75 percent of them drive 10-40 miles to work one way. I'm sure that the company would never go for it, but its worth a try.

Aaron, I've been on a campaign to get our elected officials to come up with a "computer act" that would ask (require) employers to let people (who have the means) to work from home. This would save enormous amounts aof gas and help cut in to the dependence and demand for gas.
I have had very little excitement from the senators that I have e-mailed.
I have even re-written and resent my suggestion. No responses received.
I still can't beleive that a telecommuter act can't be initiated but there is not much excitement in Washington.![]()
I could save tons of money ($16.00 per day) if this was to be imposed.
Oh well, I guess I'll have to retire before it gets too expensive to work.

They didn't mention VW at all, but they did mention Audi, BMW, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Jeep, Land Rover, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Saturn and Toyota.
My favorite was the Jeep Renegade Bluetec which gets 110 MPG. I don't know if it'll tow a trailer though... I did manage to find this on the web...
