Thunderstorms are pretty rare in LA, as I've heard from friends there.
So, do they set off the sirens for earthquakes? I don't suppose there is a point, since you would feel the quake before the sirens go off.![]()

We live two miles out of Carthage and right in the middle track of one of the tornadoes – we took shelter with our daughter at school. All the children were huddled in the class rooms against the wall – pretty intense knowing a tornado is outside and there nothing you can do about it but pray. We all listened to the twister as it passed by. Not noise you will soon forget. The twister spared the school and the town of Beckville. It did damage to some homes, but luckily no fatalities. We came back home fully expecting to find the home damaged or destroyed – but God blessed us and we only had a few trees down.
