Thunderstorms are pretty rare in LA, as I've heard from friends there.

So, do they set off the sirens for earthquakes? I don't suppose there is a point, since you would feel the quake before the sirens go off.

HAHAHA! I have heard thunder three times in the last 6 years here in LA. The only good thing about earthquakes is that by the time ou notice its all over with. The last quake we had here was close and right off the beach. The Daily Breeze paper said only two people even bothered to call the police about it. HAHAHA! BUT.. i say at least in tornado you can for sure make it through with a safe room. An earthquake can hit at any time with no notice. I hate being stuck in traffic under a big bridge. But i love being stuck in a big storm.

Mike and others sorry to here about the damage.

My truck has reverse dimples or is that pimples; not sure.
Atleast it still has all of the glass intact. Thanks to that BIG Oak tree! :worship:
House has all it's windows; but all my neighbors have none for a mile around. :worship:
I have one broken glass is the storm door near the mailbox at the front door. I guess the "Golf Ball and Larger hail" bounce off the mailbox and hit the glass cracked.

I faired better than most in my area.

Sorry to hear that the storms are so bad in the east. All we have now is 50mph wind that is fanning a massive forest fire. No rain since February.

Well, the beginning of May in Oklahoma makes some people nerves since a couple of different years we've had massive , destructive tornadoes...

well, yesterday Thursday driving home on I 40 about 5 miles from home , the HAIL came pouring down..... or rather HITTING down... pretty soon the hwy was covered with marble size hail, the sirens in Del City were going off but I kept driving , and the hail got much bigger as I got close to Tinker AFB by my house ...
a few sounds on the roof of the car like fast pitch baseballs were hitting right above my head ... and it was hailing hard and fast and BIG at my house ... seriously, the size of plums and golf balls and small oranges.... my car has a couple or three good size dents and several smaller ones... whew!!!!

No wind or tornado damage around OKC though.

Earl, Kerry, and all ... I sympathize about the tree damage, etc... we are looking kinda bare now that lots of trees are gone or their leafing out branches are gone.

Just spoke with Kate. Apparently Excelsior Springs dodged the bullet but KC was hammered pretty good - hurricane force winds and all. We're concerned about the godchildren, most of whom live there but no answer to phones or e-mail. Power may be out so we have no idea when we'll hear back from them.
Hoping and praying for the best... :worship:

We were lucky, lots of hard rain and wind gales. There were as many as 6 tornado's on the ground at once west of us. It seemed to be in open areas with mainly just tree damage. Gary and Trudy, how did you guys do? Any damage at your house? I sure hope everyone is safe.

Starleen2.............are you ok?

Tornado went through Canton, Tx and did damage and headed off towards Athens and Carthage. Supposed to be quite a bit of damage.

I've been told Carthage had 4 twisters. Hope everyone is ok.

We made it through the storms. They came up suddenly without much warning. We live two miles out of Carthage and right in the middle track of one of the tornadoes – we took shelter with our daughter at school. All the children were huddled in the class rooms against the wall – pretty intense knowing a tornado is outside and there nothing you can do about it but pray. We all listened to the twister as it passed by. Not noise you will soon forget. The twister spared the school and the town of Beckville. It did damage to some homes, but luckily no fatalities. We came back home fully expecting to find the home damaged or destroyed – but God blessed us and we only had a few trees down.

Wow! We heard absolutely nothing about this in Austin. We're so glad everybody is OK. No weather here, got up this morning, at 6 AM it was 75 degrees and 450% humidity. At around noon the wind shifted from the N, and blew the humidity out: that's it. Texas weather!
