I gotta ask...what's with the one-wire yellow running lights? couldn't they put in TWO brown wires at least?! With the molded plastic case, you can't really add a ground wire because then water will get in the light. So, you gotta depend on the screw to the frame for the ground. aaarrgh.!

I had one wire running lights that I mounted on the wood side of my TD. Had to run a second wire from the mounting screw under the light. Can't see it, just went out and looked.

Had a tail light on my truck that simply refused to work due to a bad ground. I re routed the ground wire directly to the socket and secured it with a mini worm clamp ( hose clamp ) and then reinstalled the bulb before tightening the clamp. So just drill a small hole and install a ground as I did . A dab of silicone will seal the hole. Just a thought

Works fine on probably 98 % of the trailers the are designed to be put on.... Find another brand/style..... IF not adapt....

What type do you have (can you post a pic?)? Most of the running lights I bought did not come with ground wires, so I added the ground wires myself, with a little creative tinkering. There may be a way to do that on your lights.

It takes a bit of looking, but I was able to get all my lights with separate ground wires so I didn't have to deal with the whole trailer-as-ground issue.

My trailer was chassis ground, so it was easy for most of the lights:)

But for my 2 running lights, they were mounting to wood. I merely put a ring connector on a ground wire and attached the mounting screw for the light through the ring connector. Once you pop the cover off the light, it's usually obvious how the ground connection gets made. Every one-wire light I've seen is grounded through one of the screws.
