Hello
My name is Michael and I’m from Boise ID. Any one else from the Boise area that has or is in the process of building a TD? I would love to come look at them and discuss build issues.
What is it with Tear Drop trailers that are so darn appealing? I stumbled across them just last week and within one night of abusing my work internet I had decided to build one. I’ve been reading through the forums and looking at everyone’s builds. I like what I am seeing. I think I will plan on the BenRoy style of TD.
The only real problem I have is that my wife is not convinced at all about the Idea of a TD. When I brought up the idea to her she said she wanted all the amenities of a larger unit (kitchen, bathroom, shower, dinning area etc.) and I jokingly added “room service” to which the answer was ya that too! We have 2 kids one is 18 and off to college so probably not much interested in camping with mom and dad and the other is a 13 year old boy who love to camp. Most of the time it will be just me and my son camping, sometimes with some of his friends. But a couple times a year we all go as a family. My wife’s comment was who get to be eaten by the bear? Up until now we have always just tent camped which is a lot of work, and the cost of most RV’s or pop up tents is too steep for our budget.
So after that ramble the question is did anyone have resistance at the idea of a TD and how was it overcome?
Also I downloaded the Generic BenRoy plans and think I can muddle through with help from the boards. What are your thoughts on the Kuffle Creek plans and would they make my life easier during the build? Would the $60 be better spent on supplies or will I spend more is mistakes?
Already got the name picked out for my TD. “Galileo” NCC 1701/7
