Water Tank

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

I used Andrews calculator to place my water tank (in the design library).
Then I hung it from the floor, close to the axle so the weight difference between empty and full would have less effect on the tongue weight. I used a pump to pull the water from the tank and send it to the faucet:

The pump automatically turns on when you open the faucet and turns off when you close it. I put a switch in the electrical feed so I can turn it off when I drain the tank, because running it dry will burn it out. The sprayer seemed like a good idea but it tends to splash water everywhere. I'm not putting one in the next trailer. The water inlet is just a collection of tubing and fittings I got from HD.

Hi Bruce,

Really nice job on the water tank! The placement looks perfect. :applause: You might want to put some sort of skid plating over the tank to protect it from any road hazards. You can probably find something off a junkyard jeep that would fit just fine. Take it from an old biker ;) , stuff kicked up at highway speeds can do some real damage!

The tank is higher than the axle so I won't scrape it off or anything. The plastic they use for the tank is amazingly tough, three years now and no problems.

Bruce,
If you don't use your spray attachment you could replace it with a pump for dish detergent (manual pump), I think it fits the same size hole the sprayer does. Your sink set up and plumbing are first class.

Thanks for the nice comments. Alas, the Go Devil has been sadly neglected lately as I've been working on the Box Car so much. I doubt I'll change much on it but thanks for the tip on the soap dispenser.
