Sink or no sink?

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby 1940sHousewife » Thu Sep 11, 2008 7:02 pm

I've never done much campground camping, so I wasn't sure how tasty the campground water was. Good for drinking, or just washing up and cooking? It would reduce weight if I didn't have to worry about water till I got to where I was going. Except my dog is always in need, so I may have to always bring some along anyways.

I've always found campground water to taste just fine, but I'm sure there are differing opinions.
I made room for a 3-gallon jug in a cabinet in the galley. I can always carry more in the tow vehicle if I'm going somewhere with no services for a longer period of time.

Good to know about campground water. I was planning on putting the sink in the middle section of the counter with the water underneath. Now I think I'll just use forget the sink and use that underneath area for a large jug and put it on a rollout so its easy access. That way if I ever sell or decide to add in a sink, the space will still be there for it.

I have a rv filter on mine, it helps. My sink is the standard small bowl type, it's big enough to wash a cup, or small plate. For the bigger things I use the tub. 8)

That blue torpedo that you hook in-line, from the hose bib to a supply hose. I run direct water to my tear (no storage tank), but you can just hook it up to a hose bib and use it that way. Can get them at any place that sells rv equipt., I got mine at Walmart ($17) 8)

I keep my blue water jug on a table that is attachable to the teardrop. It's the blue thing to the left of the stove/oven. All the cold water I need just by turning the spigot. This is the best pictures I have of it :) Danny

Thanks for all the good ideas! I feel much better now about my decision to skip the sink and go with water jugs instead.

Well i guess if you've made up your mind i might as well not give my opinion.Oh to heck with it ,here it is we have a bar sink that is used at least twice a day while camping. We have a plastic tub for rinsing.

It has hot and cold running running water that makes it more useful. Good luck with your build.

Wow, that looks really nice! I bigger sink like that would be more useful. Is it hard to rig up the hot/cold water?

Well you do have to have a water heater ours has a 2 1/2 gal. electric in it, piping would be the same as your home water supply

There are always a number of alternatives. Sometimes you have to think outside the box....or in this case, outside the galley.
