Frame Material (Time to start)

The frame is done. All I need is the axle. I know from info on this site I need wheels before I can order my axle. It looks like 5X4.5 is the most common lug pattern. Is that a pretty standard pattern for wheels. I found some ford wheels (mags) fairly cheap, but it doesn't say on the wheels what the pattern is. Does anyone know if Ford uses 5X4.5 pattern?

Don't know about Ford but a fool proof method if you have physical access to the wheel is to measure: 4.5" CTC from from hole to hole with one hole between the two holes measured.

A lot of Fords do have 5on4.5 (ranger), Jeeps also run that bolt pattern.

With a lot of advice from this forum, I bought my wheels and axle. I went with a torque flex axle for a smoother ride. I should :worship: be able to get the axle mounted this weekend. When I turn it back over, I'll post a new picture of the completed frame. Before the test run. Just in case.....

I'm right around $510. $240 for axle/mounts and hitch, $175 in metal, $65 for used wheels and tires, $20 for swivel tongue jack and maybe $10 in hardware. Probably could have gotten away cheaper with a HF trailer, but I like this one better! Seems very solid, but not too heavy. I'm not sure of the weight, but I can lift the back with it hooked to the car.

thats pretty good...ultimately you have a much stronger durable trailer than the hf!

Sounds similar to what I paid
$150 Metal
$200 Axle and coupler
$170 New wheels and tires (chrome smoothies)
$ 17 Swivel Jack
As payment for welding it up, I have to fix my buddy's T-maxx.

I had some help welding too. Cost me $18 for welding rod and a half rack of Coors lite. Pretty cheap though.
