headboard upper cabinet - good idea or bad

Good idea or bad?

I'm needing to get a little more interior storage space in my design. I don't have room for a lower cabinet at the front, but was thinking about an upper cabinet or shelf above the pillows.

We have the upper front cabinet its great for all the small stuff. Look in my album.

I have an upper cab. above my pillows but it is small. It could have been larger but the shape of my trailer (profile) cut into potential cab. space. A benroy profile helps with space.

I used the cab space above the pillows for a couple of fluorescent lights. They shine on the ceiling and set it to a glow. This eliminates the glare of a direct light in the eyes.

It also helps me sit up with a hand hold.

I made a small one that holds some stuff. Like wallets, flashlights keys etc. Wider corners for the lights.

wouldnt work in our Kit style. We would hit our heads and Kenny and I sit up to watch movies. I hung a fishnet across the back in front of the cupboards to hold simple things like flip flops and hats.

Just make sure you don't bump your head, it's a complaint I have heard from others. I built mine into the front curve of mine, although your design isn't the same as mine.

Thanks for they replies. I'll probably go with a shallow shelf placed high up for eyeglasses, wallet, keys, etc.

If your tear isn't built yet, lay on the floor in the corner of a room.
Have someone mark the arc your head makes as you "get up" from a sleeping position.
That will quickly show you how much projection your shelf or cabinet can have before causing a headache.

We sleep with our heads at the galley wall and I have never stubbed my toe on the front cabinets.

We have a headboard and an overhead shelf, thinking of putting another shelf in between.
