Snow? What snow?

Any snow in your area?

We got our first big snow (2 1/2 feet) on the 17th of December. I cleared that out and then left for Arizona on the 20th. When I got back on the 30th of December, this is what my place looked like:

That's a 1952 Plymouth and a 1991 Dodge Stealth under those mounds. The garage roof is metal and the snow should have slid off by then. It didn't until this last weekend. I was worried about that because my teardrop is in the garage and that snow was really heavy.

Here's what the house looked like:

It took me an hour to dig the truck out so I could spend three hours plowing snow, so I could drive my car in and park it in the garage.

The snow pack was mixed snow and rain, so it was really heavy. I decided to get the roof shoveled instead of having it collapse. Here is the guys working on it:

They cut out 2 x 2 blocks and slid them off the roof. They estimated that each block weighed about 100 pounds. That's a lot of weight for a roof.

We've had more mild weather since all this and now all the roofs are clear. The big thing I have to watch for now is the ice rink in front of the house.

A total of about 6 feet between December 17 and January 1. You're right, that's a LOT of snow.

We got more than that last year, but it was spread out over a couple of months.

No kidding. We are lucky to get more than an inch or so and have it last more than 24 hours

Here in So Calif, I look at snow every morning from my kitchen window. It is on yonder mountain peak, about 40 miles away, as the crow flies. However, the thermometer reads 81 degrees here and it looks like another shorts-and-Tshirt day...........whee.
